  1. 6. Fate of perfluoroalkyl acids in the aquatic environment with a focus on mass balance studies

    Författare :Marko Filipovic; Urs Berger; Michael McLachlan; Crispin Halsall; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PFAA; PFOS; AFFF; tap water; ground water; WWTP; mass balance; atmospheric deposition; rivers; Baltic Sea; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are man-made chemicals. Their unique properties make them beneficial for a wide range of industrial and consumer product applications, such as in aqueous film forming foam (AFFF), durable water repellent clothing, hydraulic oils and food packaging materials. Sammanfattning : Perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) are man-made chemicals. Their unique properties make them beneficial for a wide range of industrial and consumer applications, such as constituents in fire fighting foams, hydraulic oils and food packaging materials. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Sources, emissions, and occurrence of chlorinated paraffins in Stockholm, Sweden

    Författare :Ulrika E. Fridén; Urs Berger; Michael S. McLachlan; Jacob de Boer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chlorinated paraffins; CPs; polychlorinated n-alkanes; PCAs; Air; Dust; Analysis; Exposure; Emissions; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Chlorinated paraffins (CPs) are ubiquitous environmental contaminants. They fulfill all of the criteria (persistent, toxic, and subject to long-range transport) for persistent organic pollutants (POPs) according to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). 4. 9. PBDEs in the Environment : Time trends, bioaccumulation and the identification of their successor, decabromodiphenyl ethane

    Författare :Amelie Kierkegaard; Lillemor Asplund; Cynthia de Wit; Michael McLachlan; Jacob de Boer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :PBDE; BDE209; dietary absorption; metabolism; debromination; bioaccumulation; decabromodiphenyl ethane; decabromodiphenyl ether; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are important chemical flame retardants, but also environmental pollutants. Their bromine substitution lends them a different bioaccumulation behaviour than the better studied organochlorines.The contamination of a Swedish lake with lower brominated BDEs was assessed by a retrospective study of pike. 5. 10. Levels of organohalogen compounds in White-tailed sea eagles (Haliaeetus albicilla) in relation to reproduction impairment in the Bothnian Sea

    Författare :Ulrika Nordlöf; Lillemor Asplund; Björn Helander; Yngve Zebuhr; Michael Mclachlan; Roland Kallenborn; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The white-tailed sea eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) is in the top of the marine food chain and its existence in Sweden has been threatened several times. The species succeeded to recover from the deep decline in the 1970s when the exposure to persistent organic pollutants influenced the reproduction negatively. LÄS MER
