  1. 11. Environmental occurrence and fate of semifluorinated n-alkanes and perfluorinated alkyl acids present in ski waxes

    Författare :Merle M. Plassmann; Urs Berger; Michael McLachlan; Crispin Halsall; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Semifluorinated n-alkanes; Perfluorinated alkyl acids; ski waxes; snow; soil; fate; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Highly fluorinated organic compounds are emerging environmental contaminants of concern, due to their persistence, ubiquitous distribution, bioaccumulation potential and toxicity. Ski waxes are sources of highly fluorinated chemicals to the environment that have not been investigated so far. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Environmental occurrence and behaviour of the flame retardant decabromodiphenyl ethane

    Författare :Niklas Ricklund; Michael McLachlan; Amelie Kierkegaard; Adrian Covaci; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; brominated flame retardant; decabromodiphenyl ether; waste water treatment plant; mass balance; sludge; long range transport; atmospheric deposition; bioaccumulation; bioavailability; Persistent organic compounds; Persistenta organiska föreningar; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The environmental occurrence and behaviour of the brominated flame retardant (BFR) decabromodiphenyl ethane (dbdpe) has only been studied to a limited extent. It is structurally similar to decabromodiphenyl ether (decaBDE), which makes it conceivable that dbdpe may also become an environmental contaminant of concern. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Fluorine mass balance in wildlife and consumer products : How much organofluorine are we missing?

    Författare :Lara Schultes; Jonathan P. Benskin; Michael McLachlan; Jörg Feldmann; Elsie M. Sunderland; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PFASs; PFOS; fluorine mass balance; organofluorine; EOF; TF; wildlife; consumer products; combustion ion chromatography; high resolution mass spectrometry; suspect screening; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are a class of anthropogenic pollutants. Many PFASs are highly persistent and have been linked to adverse effects in humans. According to latest estimates, there are more than 4700 PFASs in global commerce, which poses immense challenges for environmental monitoring. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Improved analytical methods for perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) and their precursors – a focus on human dietary exposure

    Författare :Shahid Ullah; Urs Berger; Tomas Alsberg; Michael McLachlan; Jonathan W. Martin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental Science; PFASs; PFAAs; PFOA; PFOS; Precursor; FOSA; PAPs; Method development; LC-MS; SPE; Dietary sample; Drinking water; Human exposure; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances are a large group of global environmental contaminants. They can be divided into two sub-groups, 1) perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) and 2) so called precursors, i.e. compounds that can potentially be transformed to form PFAAs. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Simplifying complex models : Application of modeling tools in exposure assessment of organic pollutants

    Författare :Emma Undeman; Michael McLachlan; Kathrin Fenner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mass balance model; environmental modeling; exposure modeling; bioaccumulation; organic contaminants; emission estimate; plant model; steady state; poly parameter linear free energy relationship; PPLFER; ecosystem susceptibility; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Persistent organic compounds; Persistenta organiska föreningar; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Thousands of chemicals are used in society, but the exposure to humans and other organisms has been measured only for a small number of compounds. Modeling tools constitute low-cost and effective alternatives to measurements for the assessment of exposure. LÄS MER
