  1. 1. Electrooxidation of glycerol and methanol on gold

    Författare :Mikael Valter; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; van der Waals; electrochemistry; methanol; gold; glycerol; DFT;

    Sammanfattning : Burning of fossil fuels leads to excess CO2 in the atmosphere, causing global warming, threatening civilisation and ecosystems worldwide. As a step in making the society fossil-independent, we need to replace oil, coal, and gas in the transportation sector with fuels originating from sustainable energy. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Lean NOx reduction over supported silver catalysts with methanol as reductant - Influence of silver loading, support material, hydrogen addition and C/N molar ratio

    Författare :Marika Männikkö; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hydrogen; silver loading; C N molar ratio; HC-SCR; lean NOx reduction; methanol; silver; alumina; ZSM-5;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to find catalysts which show high activity and selectivity forlean NOx reduction in the low-temperature regime relevant for diesel and lean-burnengines and to investigate methanol as reducing agent. The lean NOx reduction oversupported silver catalysts is studied, focusing on the influence of the support material,silver loading, addition of hydrogen and the C/N molar ratio. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Lean NOx reduction with methanol over supported silver catalysts

    Författare :Marika Männikkö; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; lean NOx reduction; SCR; silver species; silver alumina; methanol; hydrogen; silver ZSM-5;

    Sammanfattning : The oxygen rich and relatively cold exhaust gases from fuel-efficient combustion engines bring challenges for the reductive aftertreatment of NOx. In this context selective catalytic reduction over silver/alumina has shown positive results, especially with oxygenated reducing agents. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Quantum Nuclear Dynamics in Resonant X-ray Scattering of Gas-Phase and Liquid Systems

    Författare :Vinicius Vaz da Cruz; Victor Kimberg; Faris Gel'mukhanov; Hans Ågren; Philippe Wernet; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; resonant inelastic X-ray scattering; X-ray absorption; water; methanol; CO; rotational doppler effect; recoil; wave packet; non-Franck-Condon effect; ultra-fast molecular dissociation; potential energy surface; hydrogen bond; liquid; Teoretisk kemi och biologi; Theoretical Chemistry and Biology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the role of the nuclear degrees of freedom in X-ray induced molecular processes. An important part of it is devoted to establishing theoretical principles to model and interpret high-resolution resonant X-ray scattering experiments in gases and liquids. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Life cycle navigation through future energy carriers and propulsion options for the energy transition in shipping

    Författare :Fayas Malik Kanchiralla; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; environmental impact; life cycle costing; battery electric; fuel cells; electro-fuel; technical feasibility; economic impact; hydrogen; life cycle assessment; carbon capture; marine fuel; engines; ammonia; carbon abatement cost; shipping; methanol;

    Sammanfattning : The shipping industry's heavy reliance on fossil fuels has a detrimental effect on the global climate, human health, and the natural environment. The shipping sector now relies on the use of cheap and energy-dense heavy fuel oil and is perceived as ‘difficult-to-decarbonize’. LÄS MER
