  1. 1. On errors in meteorological data assimilation

    Författare :Magnus Lindskog; Erland Källen; Nils. Gustafsson; Florence Rabier; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Meteorology; Meteorologi; meteorologi; Meteorology;

    Sammanfattning : Data assimilation in Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) optimally blends observations with atmospheric model data in order to obtain the best possible initial state for an atmospheric model prediction. Specification of error characteristics is an important part of data assimilation. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Aerosol-cloud interaction from an observational and modeling perspective

    Författare :Anders Engström; Annica Ekman; Heiner Körnich; Philip Stier; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : Clouds may respond strongly to changes in the atmospheric aerosol population, and the response of clouds to an increased global aerosol burden could to some extent mask the warming caused by enhanced greenhouse gas concentrations. However, estimates of the impact of aerosols on cloud properties are associated with large uncertainties, both because of difficulties representing the aerosol-cloud interaction within models, and because of problems of unequivocally isolating the effect of aerosols on cloud properties in observational data. 3. 3. Data Partitioning Methods and Parallel Block-Oriented PDE Solvers

    Författare :Jarmo Rantakokko; Michael Thuné; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; data assimilation; data partitioning; meteorology; multiblock; Navier-Stokes; object-oriented; oceanography; parallel computing; Numerical Analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Sammanfattning : Data partitioning methods for block-structured problems within scientific computing have been studied. The applications are variational data assimilation in meteorology, ocean modeling, and airflow simulation with multiblock grids. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Hydrographic and morphologic processes at Falsterbo peninsula - Present conditions and future scenarios

    Författare :Sten Blomgren; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydrogeology; Wave climate; Unconfined aquifer; Shore protection; Sea-level rise; Numerical modeling; Kriging; Groins; Flooding; Greenhouse effect; Digital elevation model; Beach erosion; Coastal morphology; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeologi; teknisk geologi; teknisk geografi; Geophysics; physical oceanography; meteorology; Geofysik; fysisk oceanografi; meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Falsterbo Peninsula in the south-west corner of Sweden is low-lying and built up of unconsolidated sand. Vulnerability to high water levels and wave action is of concern for the 10,000 residents of the peninsula, especially in consideration of global warming as enhanced inundation and coastal erosion problems may ensue. 5. 5. Building Performance - Methods for Improved Prediction and Verification of Energy Use and Indoor Climate

    Författare :Hans Bagge; Avdelningen för Byggnadsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Use; Residential buildings; Prediction; Verification; Measurements;

    Sammanfattning : Reducing CO2 emissions is one of the most important goals in Europe as well as the rest of the world. To reach that goal, the use of energy must be reduced. Thus, the building industry is facing a great challenge. Not only energy efficiency but also sustainability is desirable in the building stock. LÄS MER
