  1. 1. Image Based Visualization Methods for Meteorological Data

    Författare :Björn Olsson; Anders Ynnerman; Reiner Lenz; Anders Hast; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Visualization; Meteorological Data; Artificial Neural Networks; High-Dynamic-Range images; Satellite Data; Classification; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Visualization is the process of constructing methods, which are able to synthesize interesting and informative images from data sets, to simplify the process of interpreting the data. In this thesis a new approach to construct meteorological visualization methods using neural network technology is described. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Information Needs for Water Resource and Risk Management : Hydro-Meteorological Data Value and Non-Traditional Information

    Författare :Marc Girons Lopez; Jan Seibert; Sven Halldin; Thomas Grabs; Giuliano Di Baldassarre; Elena Toth; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; water management; data resolution; non-traditional data; floods; modelling; social memory; precipitation; runoff; social media; interpolation; data value; gestió de l’aigua; resolució de les dades; dades no tradicionals; inundacions; modelització; memòria social; precipitació; escorrentia; xarxes socials; interpolació; valor de les dades; avrinning; befolkningars minne; dataupplösning; datavärde; interpolering; mjuk information; modellering; nederbörd; sociala medier; vattenförvaltning; översvämning; gestión del agua; resolución de los datos; datos no tradicionales; inundaciones; modelización; memoria social; precipitación; escorrentía; redes sociales; interpolación; valor de los datos; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Data availability is extremely important for water management. Without data it would not be possible to know how much water is available or how often extreme events are likely to occur. The usually available hydro-meteorological data often have a limited representativeness and are affected by errors and uncertainties. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Flood Prediction in data-scarce basins : Maximising the value of limited hydro-meteorological data

    Författare :José Eduardo Reynolds Puga; Sven Halldin; Chong-Yu Xu; Jan Seibert; Thomas J. Grabs; Vazken Andréassian; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Floods; data scarcity; value of information; rainfall-runoff modelling; regionalisation; rainfall-forecasts; event-based calibration; climatological day; discharge day; temporal resolution; modelling time-step.; Databrist; flödestoppsbaserad kalibrering; högflöde; informationsvärde; klimatologiskt dygn; nederbörds-avrinningsmodell; modelltidssteg; regionalisering; regnprognos; tids-upplösning; vattenföringsdygn; översvämning.; Inundaciones; falta de datos; valor de información; modelos lluvia escorrentía; regionalización; pronósticos de lluvia; definición del día; resolución temporal; paso de tiempo.;

    Sammanfattning : Floods pose a threat to society that can cause large socio-economic damages and loss of life in many parts of the world. Flood-forecasting models are required to provide simulations at temporal resolutions higher than a day in basins with concentration times smaller than 24 h. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Data Partitioning Methods and Parallel Block-Oriented PDE Solvers

    Författare :Jarmo Rantakokko; Michael Thuné; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; data assimilation; data partitioning; meteorology; multiblock; Navier-Stokes; object-oriented; oceanography; parallel computing; Numerical Analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Sammanfattning : Data partitioning methods for block-structured problems within scientific computing have been studied. The applications are variational data assimilation in meteorology, ocean modeling, and airflow simulation with multiblock grids. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Användning av tillgängliga klimat- och miljödata vid livslängdsbedömningar av byggnader

    Författare :Kjell Westberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :service life planning; degradation environment; degradation agents; transformation; buildings; structures; maintenance intervals; meteorological data; climate data; environmental data; air pollutions;

    Sammanfattning : Since there is a demand to achieve improved precision ofestimations of the service life of a building and itsmaintenance intervals, in international organisations tasks arerunning to establish methods, models and standards for servicelife estimations. However, exact estimations are not feasibleat a reasonable cost. LÄS MER
