11. Tribology of stamping : the influence of designed steel sheet surface topography on friction
Sammanfattning : Tribology is the science of friction, wear, and lubrication; the interaction of surfaces in relative motion. The tribological conditions in sheet metal forming influences the flow of material in forming operations, the strain distributions of sheet material, extent of wear, and thereby the quality of products. 12. Varestraint Weldability Testing of Cast Superalloys
Sammanfattning : Precipitation hardened Ni- and Ni-Fe- based superalloys, used in hot structural components for aero engines, are subjected to hot cracking phenomena during manufacturing and specifically in welding. This type of cracking involves metallurgical reactions from the liquid phase in concomitance to weld restraints. LÄS MER
13. Laser welding and cladding : the effects of defects on fatigue behaviour
Sammanfattning : The thesis focuses on weld defects in laser processed materials (for laser welding, laser hybrid arc welding and laser cladding) and their effect on the fatigue life of components. Component properties were studied with particular emphasis on the macro and micro surface geometry, weld defects and clad defects. LÄS MER
14. Investigations of Slag Properties and Reactions
Sammanfattning : The present dissertation describes the efforts directed towards the development of computational tools to support process modeling. This work is also a further development of the Thermoslag® software developed in the Division of Materials Process Science, KTH. LÄS MER
15. Computational modelling of hot isostatic pressing
Sammanfattning : The objective of this work was the development of a computer aided concurrent engineering system (CACE) for manufacturing simulation with particular application to hot isostatic pressing (HIP). The physical and mechanical phenomena connected with the hot isostatic pressing of powder metallurgical materials are analysed. LÄS MER
