  1. 1. Microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti-6Al-4V welds produced with different processes

    Författare :Sakari Tolvanen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fatigue; welding; porosity; microstructure; defects; Ti-6Al-4V;

    Sammanfattning : Titanium alloys are widely used for components in the fan and compressor sections of aeroengines mainly because of their superior strength-to-weight ratio. Large static compressor components can be manufactured by welding together smaller subcomponents, which has potential to provide benefits such as higher buy-to-fly ratio and improved performance of the components. Sammanfattning : Martensitic steels have become very important engineering materials in modern society. Crucial parts of everyday products are made of martensitic steels, from surgical needles and razor blades to car components and large-scale excavators. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Microstructure and phase transformation of Ti-6Al-4V

    Författare :Robert Pederson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Material Mechanics; Materialmekanik;

    Sammanfattning : The research described in the thesis concerns phase transformations and fatigue properties in the Ti-6Al-4V alloy. The need to weld the alloy for certain engine components can expose the alloy locally to non-optimum thermal cycles and it is therefore of importance to gain an understanding of the kinetics involved in the phase transformations during heating and cooling. 5. 5. Effect of boron and hydrogen on microstructure and mechanical properties of cast Ti-6Al-4V

    Författare :Raghuveer Gaddam; Magnus Hörnqvist; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Titanium alloy; Metallography; Fractography; Castings; Low cycle fatigue; Hydrogen; Boron; Materialteknik; Engineering Materials;

    Sammanfattning : Titanium and its alloys are widely used in applications ranging from aeroengines and offshore equipment to biomedical implants and sporting goods, owing to their high ratio of strength to density, excellent corrosion resistance, and biomedical compatibility. Among the titanium alloys used in aerospace, Ti-6Al-4V (an α+β alloy) is the most widely used, in applications in which the temperature may reach 350°C, at which point it retains good fatigue and fracture properties as well as moderate tensile strength and ductility.
