    Sammanfattning : Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common high-grade brain tumor diagnosed in patients who are more than 50 years of age. The standard of care treatment is surgery, followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The median life expectancy of patients is only between 12 to 15 months after receiving current treatment regimes. 3. 18. Tamiflu in the Water : Resistance Dynamics of Influenza A Virus in Mallards Exposed to Oseltamivir

    Författare :Anna Gillman; Josef D Järhult; Björn Olsen; Shaman Muradrasoli; Elena Govorkova; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Influenza A virus; avian influenza; oseltamivir; neuraminidase inhibitors; resistance; environmental; Mallard; waterfowl; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The natural reservoir of influenza A virus (IAV) is wild waterfowl, and all human IAVs have their genetic origins from avian viruses. Neuraminidase inhibitors (NAIs) are currently the best drugs for treatment of human influenza; therefore, the orally available NAI oseltamivir (Tamiflu®) has been stockpiled worldwide as part of pandemic preparedness planning. 4. 19. DNA-Mediated Detection and Profiling of Protein Complexes

    Författare :Maria Hammond; Ulf Landegren; Masood Kamali-Moghaddam; Christof Niemeyer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Proximity ligation assay; Protein complexes; Protein interactions; Biomarkers; Prions; Antibodies; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins are the effector molecules of life. They are encoded in DNA that is inherited from generation to generation, but most cellular functions are executed by proteins. Proteins rarely act on their own – most actions are carried out through an interplay of tens of proteins and other biomolecules. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Reconnecting the CNS and PNS with Stem Cell Transplantation

    Författare :Niclas König; Elena Kozlova; Peter Richardson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; stem cell transplantation; regenerative neurobiology; nerve injury repair; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Severe injury may result in disconnection between the peripheral and central nervous system. Regeneration of the central portion of sensory neurons into the spinal cord is notoriously poor in adult mammals, with low regenerative drive and an unpermissive central environment, most likely resulting in persistent loss of sensory function.
