   Sammanfattning : This thesis explores health hazards for seafarers in the Swedish merchant fleet, and occupational risks for lung cancer, mesothelioma and hematologic malignancy (HM).    Sammanfattning : Cardiometabolic diseases (CMD) are the leading cause of death globally. Diet is a key preventive factor of CMD and a determinant of gut microbiota. Gut microbiota, diet and their interactions have been associated with CMD. In observational studies, diet is measured by self-reported instruments, that need to be validated before use. LÄS MER

   Sammanfattning : A wide range of cancers throughout the body are characterized by high nerve density and invasion of cancer cells within the nerves, a process called perineural invasion (PNI). Work in the field has shown that blocking nerves in organs with tumors leads to improved disease outcomes suggesting that finding ways to block tumor nerves could lead to new treatment approaches.    Sammanfattning : Aim: To study the possibility of detecting lymph node metastasis in locally advanced urinary bladder cancer (UBC) treated with radical cystectomy (RC) by using preoperative positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) and peroperative sentinel node biopsy (SNB) technique. We also investigate the clinical significance of macrophage traits expression by cancer cells, M2-macrophage infiltration (MI) in tumor stroma and the immunohistochemical expression of biomarkers in cancer cells in relation to clinicopathologic data.
