21. Molecular and Cellular Complexity of Glioma : Highlights on the Double-Edged-Sword of Infiltration Versus Proliferation and the Involvement of T Cells
Sammanfattning : Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), the most common and malignant brain tumor, is characterized by high molecular and cellular heterogeneity within and among tumors. Parameters such as invasive growth, infiltration of immune cells and endothelial proliferation contribute in a systemic manner to maintain the malignancy. LÄS MER
22. Stochastic modelling and analysis of early mouse development
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to model and describe dynamical events for biological cells using statistical and mathematical tools. The thesis includes five papers that all relate to stochastic modelling of cells. LÄS MER
23. Regulatory programs controlling profileration during Drosophila nervous system development
Sammanfattning : The central nervous system (CNS) is the most complex organ in the body, responsible for complex functions, including thinking, reasoning and memory. The CNS contains cells of many different types, often generated in vast numbers. LÄS MER
24. From single-molecule sensing to extracellular vesicles in glioma cells under stress
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the work I conducted in two different areas, namely biomolecular sensing and quantitative cell biology. The work in the former area was focused on the optimization of plasmonic metamaterials for sensing applications, and in the latter on the characterization of extracellular vesicles released by glioblastoma cells under stress conditions. 25. The Biophysics of Na+,K+-ATPase in neuronal health and disease
Sammanfattning : Na+,K+-ATPase is one of the most important proteins in the mammalian cell. It creates sodium and potassium gradients which are fundamental for the membrane potential and sodium-dependent secondary active transport. LÄS MER
