  1. 11. DNA and protein interactions of mouse polyomavirus large T antigen

    Författare :Ola Rönn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; T-antigen; DNA-binding; biosensor; enhancer; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Virology; medicinsk virologi;

    Sammanfattning : Polyomaviruses require dividing cells to multiply. The regulatory genes express proteins, theT-antigens, necessary for this to occur. Large T-antigen (LT), is a phosphoprotein withmultiple intrinsic activities, e.g. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Control of human papillomavirus type 1 late mRNA stability and translation by an AU-rich RNA element

    Författare :Marcus Sokolowski; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; HPV-1; HPV-16; late genes; 3´ UTR; L1; L2; c-fos; AU rich element; HuR; hnRNP C1 C2; mRNA stability; translation; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Virology; medicinsk virologi;

    Sammanfattning : Human Papillomaviruses (HPVs) infect the epithelial tissues in humans and infection with certain high-risk types is associated with cancer. The expressionof the HPV late capsid genes is dependent on cell differentiation. This may be one reason for the lack of HPV replication in vitro. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Cellular proteins binding to the HCV 5' and 3' UTRs

    Författare :Karin Spångberg; Ingemar Ernberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Hepatitis C virus; RNA-binding proteins; mRNA stability; translation; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Virology; medicinsk virologi;

    Sammanfattning : Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a worldwide health problem with more than 170 million people infected by the virus. About 80% become chronic carriers, which may result in hepatocellular carcinoma. The lack of an in vitro cell culture system that allows propagation of the virus has hampered the development of a vaccine or anti-viral drugs against HCV. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Transcriptional activation by Sp1 and the adenovirus E1A transactivator protein

    Författare :Anne-Christine Ström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Virology; medicinsk virologi;

    Sammanfattning : Transcription is a key step in the regulation of gene expression. Activation of transcriptionrequires that the RNA polymerase receive both, regulatory signals from transcription factors,and initiate transcription at the correct location in the genome, at the promoter. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Characterisation of CtBP : A Co-Repressor of Transcription that Interacts with the Adenovirus E1A Protein

    Författare :Anders Sundqvist; Anthony Wright; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; CtBP; HDAC; adenovirus; E1A; gene expression; repression; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Medical Virology; medicinsk virologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this study, adenovirus E1A has been used to target and analyse the transcriptional function of the cellular C-terminal Binding Protein (CtBP).Transcription is a complex biochemical process that represents a major regulatory step in gene expression. LÄS MER
