Sammanfattning : In this work, a number of key localities have been investigated in detail in order to provide precise constraints on models for the tectonic evolution of southern Sweden. The new data presented in this thesis show that there are large differences in terms of pre-Sveconorwegian tectonic evolution between the Eastern and Median-Western Segments situated on either side of the Mylonite Zone, a major shear zone as well as a structural and lithological boundary. Sammanfattning : Median nerve injuries in adults, repaired with nerve suture, lead to incomplete functional recovery despite improved surgical technique. This results in a reduction in quality of life, poorer working ability and a considerable expense for society. Misrouting of axons at the suture site connects regenerating axons to the wrong distal end organs. LÄS MER
3. Unstabel post-infarction ischemia : Identification and risk statification with special emphasis on noninvasive methods
Sammanfattning : The Karolinska Institute, Department of Cardiology, Karolinska Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden Unstable post-infarction ischemia Identification and risk stratification with special emphasis on noninvasive methods MIGUEL QUINTANAAlthough in-hospital mortality after acute myocardiat infarction has decreased, long-term mortality is still high. This study tested the prognostic value of detecting residual myocardial ischemia by different techniques in 74patients recovering from an acute myocardial infarction. Sammanfattning : A nerve injury in the hand often results in profound abnmmalities in sensory perception despite careful alignment and microsurgical repair in order to facilitate accurate nerve regeneration. The present experimental and clinical studies were undertaken in an attempt to functionally evaluate peripheral and central effects of nerve regeneration. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : Barrett’s esophagus is the precursor lesion of esophageal adenocarcinoma, a tumor with increasing incidence and poor prognosis. The overall aim of the thesis was to assess risk and prognosis in patients with Barrett’s esophagus and esophageal adenocarcinoma. LÄS MER
