1. Body movement as material : Designing temporal expressions
Sammanfattning : Movement and temporal qualities have a significant effect on design expressions. However, in the design of dress these are often overlooked, and the static form of a positioned body is considered to be the main driver of design. This work explores the expressions of the body in motion, engaged in the interaction constituted by wearing. LÄS MER
2. Beskrivningsspråk i och för kreativ praxis : Idéutveckling under gruppsession
Sammanfattning : Generating and developing ideas constitute centerpieces for innovations processes, idea creation methods and techniques most urgent in their initial phases processes, though the need is no less in subsequent phases. Those early phases, however, allow for more deviant ideas, characterized by more of ambiguity and uncertainty. LÄS MER
3. Bling? Roles and Contradictions in Design
Sammanfattning : In their professional practice, designers serve different roles as experts in user behaviour, taste experts and conveyors of symbolic meaning. Combining these roles, however, is not necessarily unproblematic, especially so in contexts that are incongruent with the personal preferences of the designer. LÄS MER
4. Essays on Mechanism Design
Sammanfattning : This thesis makes a contribution to mechanism design: a field of economic theory concerned with constructing and analyzing economic mechanisms. Examples include design of auctions, voting systems, school choice, kidney exchange and many more. The thesis consists of four separate papers. LÄS MER
5. Macromolecular design : UV-curable thiol-ene networks based on renewable resources
Sammanfattning : Plant oils and terpenes are ubiquitous natural renewable compounds. The double bonds contained in most of these monomers can be utilized via the photo-induced free-radical thiol–ene reaction to create novel bio-derived polymer thermosets representing a valuable ‘green’ alternative to petrochemical olefins and resulting synthetic plastic materials.
