  1. 1. On modelling and simulation of the human cardiovascular system : with special reference to aortic coarctation and mitral regurgitation

    Författare :Matts Karlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis the method of identification has been proposed for interpreting data obatined from pressure measurement on patients with aortic coarctation. In order to investigate its charcteristics and applicability the algortithm for identification was initially tested using a simple model of the human cardiovascular system. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Nonlinear Mixed Effects Methods for Improved Estimation of Receptor Occupancy in PET Studies

    Författare :Matts Kågedal; Mats Karlsson; Andrew C Hooker; Gitte Knudsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PET; positron emission tomography; receptor occupancy; nonlinear mixed effects; NONMEM; optimal design; dose finding; Pharmacokinetics and Drug Therapy; Farmakokinetik och läkemedelsterapi;

    Sammanfattning : Receptor occupancy assessed by Positron Emission Tomography (PET) can provide important translational information to help bridge information from one drug to another or from animal to man. The aim of this thesis was to develop nonlinear mixed effects methods for estimation of the relationship between drug exposure and receptor occupancy for the two mGluR5 antagonists AZD9272 and AZD2066 and for the 5HT1B receptor antagonist AZD3783. 3. 3. Turbulence Descriptors in Arterial Flows : Patient-Specific Computational Hemodynamics

    Författare :Magnus Andersson; Matts Karlsson; Jonas Lantz; Tino Ebbers; Kristian Valen-Sendstad; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : At this very moment, there are literally millions of people who suffer from various types of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), many of whom will experience reduced quality of life or premature lift expectancy. The detailed underlying pathogenic processes behind many of these disorders are not well understood, but were abnormal dynamics of the blood flow (hemodynamics) are believed to play an important role, especially atypical flow-mediated frictional forces on the intraluminal wall (i. 4. 4. Cervical screening with primary HPV : from research to clinical effectiveness

    Författare :Lovisa Bergengren; Gisela Helenius; Mats Karlsson; Matts Olovsson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cervical cancer; screening; human papillomavirus HPV ; HPV prevalence; HPV genotypes; precancerous lesion; HSIL; self-sampling; postmenopausal women; health economy;

    Sammanfattning : Organized cervical screening has greatly reduced the incidence of cervical cancer where implemented. Human papilloma virus (HPV) is the cause of cervical cancer, and in later years, convincing evidence has led to cervical screening with HPV as the primary method being implemented around the world. 5. 5. CFD Simulations for Film Cooling : Reduced Models at Engine Like Conditions

    Författare :Andreas Bradley; Matts Karlsson; Karl Storck; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In gas turbines some parts are exposed to combustion gases with temperatures well above the melting temperature of the material. Therefore, various cooling techniques are utilized in order to protect the parts exposed to these hot gases. One such technique, film cooling, is a common and well established way to protect the exposed parts. LÄS MER
