    Sammanfattning : In rural sub-Saharan Africa women are often described as the most important farmers, producing the bulk of subsistence food. In this study it is shown that female farmers in the four visited villages of Western Kenya are much more than farmers. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the reclamation of mires (fens and bogs) in Sweden with a focus on the early modern period. Today, the mires are valued natural habitats and their cultivation is controversial.     Sammanfattning : This study challenges two general opinions concerning the beginning of iron-making in blast furnaces in early medieval times in one of Sweden’s oldest mining district, (I) that iron was the reason for colonisation in early medieval times and (II) that independent “mining-peasants” (Sw. bergsmän) colonised the medieval mining fields and developed iron-making.
