1. Baseband Processing for 5G and Beyond: Algorithms, VLSI Architectures, and Co-design
Sammanfattning : In recent years the number of connected devices and the demand for high data-rates have been significantly increased. This enormous growth is more pronounced by the introduction of the Internet of things (IoT) in which several devices are interconnected to exchange data for various applications like smart homes and smart cities. 2. Sparse Matrices in Self-Consistent Field Methods
Sammanfattning : This thesis is part of an effort to enable large-scale Hartree-Fock/Kohn-Sham (HF/KS) calculations. The objective is to model molecules and materials containing thousands of atoms at the quantum mechanical level. HF/KS calculations are usually performed with the Self-Consistent Field (SCF) method. 3. Parallelization of dynamic algorithms for electronic structure calculations
Sammanfattning : The aim of electronic structure calculations is to simulate behavior of complex materials by resolving interactions between electrons and nuclei in atoms at the level of quantum mechanics. Progress in the field allows to reduce the computational complexity of the solution methods to linear so that the computational time scales proportionally to the size of the physical system. LÄS MER
4. Spatiotemporal carrier dynamics in graphene
Sammanfattning : Graphene as an atomically thin material exhibits remarkable optical and electronic properties that suggest its technological application in novel optoelectronic devices, such as graphene-based photodetectors and lasers. To understand the properties of such devices on a microscopic level, we study the interplay of optical excitation, carrier-carrier, carrier-phonon, and carrierphoton scattering as well as diffusion processes. 5. Electron dynamics in graphene in the presence of an electrical field
Sammanfattning : Graphene as atomically thin two-dimensional material exhibits remarkableoptical and electronic properties that suggest its technological applicationin novel optoelectronic devices, such as graphene-based lasers and photodetectors. The linear electronic bandstructure and the vanishing band gap atthe Dirac point open up new relaxation channels, such as Auger scattering.
