  1. 1. Long-Term Simulation of Coastal Evolution

    Författare :Hoan Le Xuan; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tidal inlet; inlet shoal; sediment transport; spit growth; shoreline change; spit model; inlet model; mathematical model; numerical model; shoreline model;

    Sammanfattning : There is a strong relationship between regional sediment transport and the local processes at tidal inlets and around coastal structures. Many coastal projects require quantitative understanding of these processes and the interactions between them. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Mathematical Learning Disability : Cognitive Conditions, Development and Predictions

    Författare :Rickard Östergren; Ulf Träff; Joakim Samuelsson; Örjan Dahlström; Åke Olofsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; Mathematical learning disability; dyscalculia; mathematical cognition; number sense; Matematiska inlärningssvårigheter; dyskalkyli; matematisk kognition; antalsuppfattning;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of the present thesis was to test and contrast hypotheses about the cognitive conditions that support the development of mathematical learning disability (MLD). Following hypotheses were tested in the thesis: a) domain general deficit, the deficit is primarily located in the domain general systems such as the working memory, b) number sense deficit, the deficit is located in the innate approximate number system (ANS), c) numerosity coding deficit, the deficit is located to a exact number representation system, d) access deficit, the deficit is in the mapping between symbols and the innate number representational system (e. 3. 3. A model for simulation and generation of surrounding vehicles in driving simulators

    Författare :Johan Olstam; Jan Lundgren; Pontus Matstoms; Stéphane Espié; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Traffic; Simulation; Model; Traffic flow; Vehicle; Micro; Overtaking; Vehicle spacing; Deceleration; Acceleration; Mathematical model; Simulator; Road: Traffic theory; Road: Traffic theory; Technology; Traffic Simulation; Driving Simulator; Traffic Generation; Microscopic; Traffic models; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Driving simulators are used to conduct experiments on for example driver behavior, road design, and vehicle characteristics. The results of the experiments often depend on the traffic conditions. One example is the evaluation of cellular phones and how they affect driving behavior. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Modelling and inference of relative collision safety in cars

    Författare :Anna Vadeby; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Collision; Mathematical model; Head on collision; Injury; Risk; Car; 91 Road: Vehicle design and construction; 91 Road: Vehicle design and construction; 85 Road: Personal injuries; 85 Road: Personal injuries; Estimation; birth process; maximum likelihood; bootstrap; confidence intervals; relative collision safety; head-on crashes.;

    Sammanfattning : We propose a new mathematical model for relative collision safety in cars. Our present research is restricted to head-on crashes between two cars and we try to determine how much of the injury risk in a crash that depends on car model. The relative risks include the driver populations of the different car models. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Model Adaptivity in Elasticity

    Författare :David Heintz; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; finite element method; dimension reduction; a posteriori error; model error; model adaptivity; model error;

    Sammanfattning : We consider model adaptivity in elasticity for dimensionally reduced forms, and shall treat different conceptual approaches. The basic idea, however, is to adaptively refine, not only the computational mesh, but also the underlying mathematical formulation. LÄS MER
