  1. 1. On some positive effects of swirling flow for the continuous cast mould billets

    Författare :Shavkat Kholmatov; Pär Jönsson; Simon Lille; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; swirling flow; round mould; divergent angle; aspect ratio; temperature distribution; velocity fluctuations; continuous casting of steel; mathematical modeling; CFD; Metallurgical process engineering; Metallurgisk processteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Continuous caster moulds are the last and most important stage in the steelmaking process, where inclusions can either be generated or removed. With increasing casting speed using conventional immersion nozzles critical problems, such as unstable bulk mould flow have been noticed. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Inclusion Behaviour under a Swirl Flow in a Continuous Casting Process

    Författare :Yang Ying; Pär Jönsson; Dong-Yuan Sheng; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; inclusion behaviour; swirl flow; rotating magnetic field; electromagnetic swirl flow generator; full type; half type; submerged entry no zzle; mold;

    Sammanfattning : A swirl flow generated in a submerged entry nozzle (SEN) can effectively improve a flow pattern and heat transfer in a continuous casting process by using the methods of “swirl blade type” and “electromagnetic type”. In order to obtain a further in-depth understanding with respect to the effect of a swirl flow on a continuous casting process, the inclusion behaviour in a SEN and a mold was studied in the present work. 3. 3. Inclusion Motion under a Swirl Flow in the Continuous Casting Process and Wire Feeding in the Induction Furnace

    Författare :Ying Yang; Pär Jönsson; Seppo Louhenkilpi; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; inclusion motion; swirl flow; rotating magnetic field; electromagnetic swirl flow generator; full type; half type; submerged entry nozzle; mold; wire feeding; melting behavior; FeSiRE particle powder motion; induction furnace;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis includes the studies of two phenomena related to continuous casting. One subject is the inclusion motion in the submerged entry nozzle (SEN) and mold when using a swirl flow. The swirl flow is generated in a SEN by using an electromagnetic swirl flow generator (EMSFG). LÄS MER
