11. Hydro-mechanical properties of a water unsaturated sodium bentonite. Laboratory study and theoretical interpretation
Sammanfattning : Highly compacted bentonite has been proposed as the buffer material in the Swedish concept for the disposal of nuclear waste. To increase the knowledge of the hydro-mechanical behaviour of unsaturated swelling bentonite a series of laboratory experiments was carried out. LÄS MER
12. Leaching of concrete : the leaching process and its effects
Sammanfattning : The present report presents an experimental study of leaching of concrete caused by water percolating through the concrete, or by diffusion from concrete to external water in contact. An apparatus was designed and constructed in which de-ionised water could be forced, by external pressure, through a number of concrete specimens of differing characteristics. LÄS MER
13. Portland Cement Clinker - Composition and Hydration
Sammanfattning : The crystal structures of the main Portland cement clinker phases are reviewed and two anion centered models of Ca3SiO5 and Ca2SiO4 are presented. The effects of minor elements on the clinkering process, and on the qualitative and quantitative phase compositions of Portland cement clinker are discussed. LÄS MER
14. Phase development, heat of hydration and expansion in a blended cement with b-hemihydrate and anhydrite as calcium sulfate
Sammanfattning : Expansive cements are utilised in special applications to improve properties such as cracking caused by drying shrinkage. Several types of expansive cements exist and the main hydration product responsible for the expansion is ettringite, [Ca3Al(OH)6]2(SO4)3·26H 2O. LÄS MER
15. Modeling the effects of knots in Structural Timber
Sammanfattning : The main purpose of the pursued research is to increase knowledge of the effects of knots in structural timber so that characteristics of weaker timber may be determined and applied to improve current grading techniques. In the process, a three-dimensional fiber paradigm was established, which describes variations of local principle material axes in timber containing knots. LÄS MER
