  1. 1. Co-operative recombination mechanisms promoting gene clustering and lateral transfer of antibacterial drug resistance

    Författare :Masood Kamali-Moghaddam; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biosciences; Tn5090 Tn402; Mu-like transposons; serine recombinases; res site; integrons; Farmaceutisk biovetenskap; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; Pharmaceutical Microbiology; farmaceutisk mikrobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Transposons of the Mu superfamily are widespread and have been shown to play an important role in the dissemination of antibiotic resistance among microorganisms. One of these elements, Tn5090/Tn402 is the basal vehicle of the type 1 integrons in which mobile resistance gene cassettes are inserted to form clusters and operons. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Protein biomarkers circulating in blood hold the promise of improved diagnosis, prognosis and follow-up of treatment of disease via minimally invasive procedures. For the discovery and validation of such biomarkers, methods are needed that can facilitate parallel, highly specific and in-depth analysis of the blood proteome. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Development and Application of Proximity Assays for Proteome Analysis in Medicine

    Författare :Felipe Marques Souza de Oliveira; Masood Kamali-Moghaddam; Ulf Landegren; Mats Gullberg; Janne Lehtiö; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Solid-phase proximity ligation assay; post-translational modifications; glycosylation; phosphorylation; Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay; immunoassay and rolling circle amplification; Proximity Extension Assay; inflammation protein biomarkers; autoantibodies; autoimmune disease;

    Sammanfattning : Along with proteins, a myriad of different molecular biomarkers, such as post-translational modifications and autoantibodies, could be used in an attempt to improve disease detection and progression. In this thesis, I build on several iterations of the proximity ligation assay to develop and apply new adaptable methods to facilitate detection of proteins, autoantibodies and post-translational modifications. 4. 4. Development of Enhanced Molecular Diagnostic Tools for Protein Detection and Analysis

    Författare :Tonge Ebai; Ulf Landegren; Masood Kamali-Moghaddam; Peter Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; protein detection; proximity ligation assays; proximity extension assay; rolling circle amplification; ELISA; flow cytometry; fluorescence microscopy;

    Sammanfattning : Improved diagnosis, prognosis and disease follow-up is a fundamental procedure and a constant challenge in medicine.  Among the different molecular biomarkers, proteins are the essential regulatory component in blood; hence, by developing enhanced specific and sensitive molecular tools will gives great insight into the different processes in disease treatment. 5. 5. DNA-Mediated Detection and Profiling of Protein Complexes

    Författare :Maria Hammond; Ulf Landegren; Masood Kamali-Moghaddam; Christof Niemeyer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Proximity ligation assay; Protein complexes; Protein interactions; Biomarkers; Prions; Antibodies; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Proteins are the effector molecules of life. They are encoded in DNA that is inherited from generation to generation, but most cellular functions are executed by proteins. Proteins rarely act on their own – most actions are carried out through an interplay of tens of proteins and other biomolecules. LÄS MER
