    Sammanfattning : Background: The therapeutic value of transurethral microwave thermotherapy (TUMT) in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a matter of debate. Aims: Evaluation of the clinical effect of TUMT and of various duration of the treatment; investigation of the kind and extent of tissue lesions induced by TUMT and of the mechanisms behind the therapeutic effect; investigation of the effect of heat on human prostate stromal cells in cell culture.     Sammanfattning : Percutaneous nephrostomy (PCN) is a well-established intervention performed to divert urine from the collecting system in ureteric obstruction or as a prelude to interventional procedures such as stent placement or percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL). The aim of this thesis is to enhance planning for an optimal insertion of PCN, investigate complications, long-term management, follow-up and outcome in patients with PCN treatment and to increase accuracy in CT-guided punctures.     Sammanfattning : Advanced home care (ASIH) enables the patient to stay at home rather than to stay hospitalized in connection with severe medical conditions, while simultaneously this Thesis demonstrates that this is in fact not completely unproblematic and without risk. This partly because ASIH proves to be a complex form of care with many different kind of collaterally ongoing care contacts and efforts of care and concern, partly since ASIH concurrently can assume an overview over the treatment process and collaboration or cooperation between several treatment agents from different kinds of organizations and/or operations during all hours.
