  1. 11. Energy Feedback and Demand Response Strategies : Exploring Household Engagement and Response Using a Mixed Methods Approach

    Författare :Anders Nilsson; Maria Malmström; Cajsa Bartusch; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy feedback; demand response; household energy consumption; energy efficiency and conservation; demand flexibility; smart grids; smart homes; Industrial Ecology; Industriell ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Real-time energy feedback (EF) and demand response using dynamic pricing tariffs (DR) have been suggested as effective intervention strategies to meet the need for increased energy efficiency and demand flexibility in the residential sector. Although previous studies provide some empirical support for the effectiveness of EF and DR, evaluation approaches used in practical experiments and field trials commonly suffer from several methodological shortcomings, preventing deeper of knowledge on the potential and barriers for EF and DR to influence household energy consumption. 2. 12. Emerging technologies for climate-neutral urban areas : An Industrial Ecology perspective

    Författare :Asterios Papageorgiou; Cecilia Sundberg; Rajib Sinha; Maria Malmström; Ola Eriksson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Urban areas; climate neutrality; solar microgrid; biochar; Life Cycle Assessment; Material and Energy Flow Analysis; Substance Flow Analysis; Urbana områden; klimatneutralitet; solmikronät; biokol; livscykelanalys; material- och energiflödesanalys; substansflödesanalyss; Industrial Ecology; Industriell ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : The ever-increasing concentration of human activity in urban areas induces environmental problems beyond their boundaries on scales ranging from local to regional to global, such as resource depletion, land degradation, air and water pollution and climate change. Human-induced climate change is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest sustainability challenges of the present century and it is inextricably linked to urbanization. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Nutrient Recovery as an Added Benefit to Harvests of Photosynthetic Marine Biomass : A Holistic Systems Perspective on Harvesting Marine Microalgae, Cyanobacteria, and Macroalgae

    Författare :Joseph Pechsiri; Fredrik Gröndahl; Maria Malmström; Angela Wulff; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Industrial Ecology; Industriell ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : As a result of increasing environmental burdens from anthropogenic activities andresource scarcity, interest for the development of solutions utilizing photosyntheticmarine biomass has also been increasing in both academia and industries. Medium tolarge scale production and harvest of photosynthetic marine biomass have beenpracticed to achieve numerous services, including improving tourism industries,production of biofuels, and production of food/feed.
