  1. 1. Imaging of Enzymes in the Steroid Biosynthetic Pathway : Synthesis of 18F-Labelled Tracers

    Författare :Maria Erlandsson; Bengt Långström; Franklin Aigbirhio; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; Organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the synthesis and development of 18F-labelled alkyl etomidate and vorozole analogues, and their use as positron emission tomography (PET) tracers for the imaging of the steroid enzymes 11β-hydroxylase and aromatase. Two synthetic 18F-labelling approaches to the etomidate and vorozole analogues were developed, and the analogues were evaluated in some biological assays. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explored symptom clusters in patients with lung cancer before, during and after oncological treatment. A literature review and an interview study was used to explore the symptom cluster experience from the patients’ perspective. LÄS MER

  3. 3. A stargazer's guide to neurodegeneration : Astrocytes' role in the propagation of pathological proteins

    Författare :Tobias Mothes; Anna Erlandsson; Martin Ingelsson; Linn Streubel-Gallasch; Maria Grazia Spillantini; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Alzheimer’s disease; Parkinson’s disease; tauopathies; astrocyte; microglia; neuron; tau; amyloid-β; α-synuclein; accumulation; degradation; inflammation; spreading; seeding.; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Parkinson’s disease (PD) are characterized by brain accumulation of pathogenic protein aggregates. In the AD brain, amyloid-β (Aβ) and tau form plaques respective tangles, while in the PD brain α-synuclein (α-syn) form Lewy bodies and Lewy neurites. LÄS MER
