  1. 1. Development of IgG subclass antibodies to allergens in early childhood

    Författare :Maria C. Jenmalm; Örjan Strannegård; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Immune responses to allergens in young children include both Thl and Th2 like immunity, which may regulate the secretion of IgG subclass antibodies differently. The time, route and level of exposure to an allergen, as well as maternally transferred immunity, may be decisive whether sensitisation or tolerance will ensue. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Immune maturation and modulation in childhood allergies : Aspects of epigenetic, mucosal and systemic immune mediators in allergy development and prevention

    Författare :Johanna Huoman; Maria Jenmalm; Lennart Nilsson; Petra Ina Pfefferle; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The prevalence of allergic diseases has in the past century increased among children in affluent societies. Underlying causes are incompletely disentangled, but decreased diversity in environmental and microbial exposures could drive allergy development. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Immune regulation at the foetal-maternal interface; implications for healthy and complicated pregnancies

    Författare :Robert Lindau; Jan Ernerudh; Maria Jenmalm; Kristina Nilsson-Ekdahl; Petra Arck; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : For a successful pregnancy, the maternal immune system must acquire tolerance towards the paternal antigens present in the semi-allogeneic foetus. This tolerance is mainly established locally at the foetal-maternal interface, where foetally-derived trophoblasts invade the maternal endometrium (called decidua during pregnancy) and come in close proximity to maternal immune cells. 4. 4. Early life cytokines, viral infections and IgE-mediated allergic disease

    Författare :Anna-Karin Larsson; Marita Troye-Blomberg; Gunnar Lilja; Maria Jenmalm; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; IgE-sensitisation; childhood; cytokine; viral infection; atopy; single nucleotide polymorphism; cord blood; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The reasons why some individuals become IgE-sensitised and allergic are largely unknown, though genetic- and early life environmental factors seem to be of importance.Objective: The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate the relationship between IgE-sensitisation and allergic disease, viral infections, genetic markers and early life cytokines.
