1. The worries of working : Longitudinal studies on the impact of employment uncertainty and employment transitions on clinically defined mental health conditions
Sammanfattning : While mental health problems according psychotropic drug purchases and sick leave spells for psychiatric disorders have increased in Sweden the past 15 years, this is not reflected in trends of psychiatric diagnoses or suicide mortality. In parallel, labor markets have undergone structural changes pressuring employers to increase their flexibility to ensure permanence. LÄS MER
2. Structural Models of Network Contacts Between Actors Governed by Activity and Attraction
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of five papers on the subject of statistical modeling of stochastic networks. The NG-model proposed in Paper I combines a block structure with parameters that capture the identities of vertices and thus the new approach stresses the concept of ego-nets, which describes the structure around identified vertices. 3. Random Models in Time and Space with Financial, Economics and Engineering Applications : Structural Covariance in Space and Stochastic Variability in Time
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we model stochastic processes in time and space. We focus on the processes whose covariance structure is either changing over the time span, or depends on the location in space. We develop models that appropriately describe and analyze such data behaviors in various different fields including finance, economics and engineering. LÄS MER
4. Essays on Microeconometrics and Immigrant Assimilation
Sammanfattning : Paper I. Asymptotic bias reduction for a conditional marginal effects estimator in sam- ple selection models. In this article we discuss the di¤erences between the average marginal effect and the mar- ginal effect of the average individual in sample selection models, estimated by the Heck- man procedure. 5. On specification and inference in the econometrics of public procurement
Sammanfattning : In Paper [I] we use data on Swedish public procurement auctions for internal regularcleaning service contracts to provide novel empirical evidence regarding green publicprocurement (GPP) and its effect on the potential suppliers’ decision to submit a bid andtheir probability of being qualified for supplier selection. We find only a weak effect onsupplier behavior which suggests that GPP does not live up to its political expectations. LÄS MER
