11. Reducing ships' fuel consumption and emissions by learning from data
Sammanfattning : In the context of reducing both greenhouse gases and hazardous emissions, the shipping sector faces a major challenge as it is currently responsible for 11% of the transport sector’s anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions. Even as emissions reductions are needed, the demand for the transport sector rises exponentially every year. LÄS MER
12. Multispectral imaging of hemoglobin oxygen saturation in skin microcirculation
Sammanfattning : The ability to measure microcirculatory parameters such as hemoglobin oxygen saturation is important since it mirrors the microcirculatory state of the body. The microcirculation delivers oxygen and nutrients to the cells of the body and, if impaired, may be a sign of circulatory failure. LÄS MER
13. Quantitative Laser Doppler Flowmetry
Sammanfattning : Laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) is virtually the only non-invasive technique, except for other laser speckle based techniques, that enables estimation of the microcirculatory blood flow. The technique was introduced into the field of biomedical engineering in the 1970s, and a rapid evolvement followed during the 1980s with fiber based systems and improved signal analysis. LÄS MER
14. Non-invasive techniques for assessment of peripheral blood flow at different vascular depths
Sammanfattning : Missing or reduced blood flow can lead to pressure ulcers. Monitoring blood flow in areas prone to pressure ulcer development would be a valuable tool for prevention of pressure ulcers. PPG and LDF are both established non invasive optical techniques that can be used to estimate the changes in blood flow in different tissue volumes. LÄS MER
15. Elasto-hydrodynamic film formation in heavily loaded rolling-sliding contacts : Influence of surface topography on the transition between lubrication regimes
Sammanfattning : To meet the stringent demands set on future gear transmissions, and to allow for manufacturers to make them more efficient and durable, it is essential to understand what mechanisms that govern their performance. This work was launched with the chief targets of establishing key competence in gear lubrication. LÄS MER
