  1. 1. Herodes Atticus Reflected in Occasional Poetry of Antonine Athens

    Författare :Foteini Skenteri; Grekiska (antik och bysantinsk); []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Grekiska språket; Greek language; Humaniora; Humanities; ancient rhetoric; Menandros Rhetor; Kephisia; Avlona; Marathon; Triopion; epigraphy; inscriptions; occasional poetry; Antonine Athens; Herodes Atticus; Second Sophistic; Greek literature; Grekisk litteratur;

    Sammanfattning : The occasional poetry of the Antonine period relating to the wealthy sophist and important second century AD political personality in Athens, Herodes Atticus, is studied. Some of the functions of poetry are illustrated, as it is used by one of the leading personalities of the Second Sophistic. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Elite sprinters, ice hockey players, orienteers and marathon runners : isokinetic leg muscle performance in relation to muscle structure and training

    Författare :Christer Johansson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Electromyography; endurance; enzyme histocytochemistry; fatigue; ice hockey; isokinetic; muscle contraction; OBLA; orienteering; running;

    Sammanfattning : In male athletes from different sports, isokinetic knee extensor, and in orienteers also plantar flexor peak torque (PT), contractional work (CW) and integrated surface electromyograms (iEMG) were analysed.Single contraction PT, CW and iEMG in sprinters and marathon runners were significantly correlated to the cross-sectional area (CSA) of m. 3. 3. Running-related injuries in recreational athletes. : lncidence, risk factors and effectiveness of an injury-prevention programme

    Författare :Pia Desai; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Running-related injuries; Neuromuscular control; Injury prevention;

    Sammanfattning : Running as a form of physical activity continues to grow in popularity and is accompanied by a number of health benefits, but one of the greatest threats that challenge these benefits is running-related injuries. The overall aim of this thesis is to identify the proportion of runners who sustain a running-related injury (incidence), possible reasons as to why they sustain these injuries (risk factors) and, finally, whether general injury-prevention guidelines can be effective in reducing the number of running-related injuries in recreational runners. 4. 4. Numerical and experimental study of performance of a hydraulic motor

    Författare :Leon Dahlén; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydraulic fluid; hydrostatic transmission; hydraulic motor; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik; Maskinelement;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to develop an understanding of the fluid properties that influence the efficiency of hydraulic systems in a steady-state, especially components in hydrostatic transmission systems under different running conditions. The aim has also been to investigate and model the sources of losses in hydraulic machines, in order to estimate the losses, taking fluid properties into account. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Sensor Networks and Their Radio Environment : On Testbeds, Interference, and Broken Packets

    Författare :Frederik Hermans; Per Gunningberg; Edith Ngai; Andreas Terzis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sensor networks; Testbed; Mobility; Interference classification; Packet corruption; Computer Science with specialization in Computer Communication; Datavetenskap med inriktning mot datorkommunikation;

    Sammanfattning : Sensor networks consist of small sensing devices that collaboratively fulfill a sensing task, such as monitoring the soil in an agricultural field or measuring vital signs in a marathon runner. To avoid cumbersome and expensive cabling, nodes in a sensor network are powered by batteries and communicate wirelessly. LÄS MER
