  1. 1. Mucin-like proteins in Drosophila development

    Författare :Zulfeqhar Ali Syed; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mucins; PTS-domains; Drosophila development; Tube shape; Hindgut; Midgut; Malpighian tubules; Luminal matrix;

    Sammanfattning : Mucins are large and highly glycosylated proteins and major component of the mucus that coats the lining of epithelial organs. Mucins are characterized by the presence of extended regions rich in the amino acids Proline, Threonine and Serine (PTS domain), where the Serines and Threonines are O-glycosylated to form sugar-rich mucin domains. 2. 2. Neuropeptides and GABA in control of insulin producing cells in Drosophila

    Författare :Jeannette Söderberg; Åsa Winther; Dick R. Nässel; Susan Broughton; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drosophila; insulin signaling; metabolism; feeding; DTK; DSK; GABA; stress resistance; funktionell zoomorfologi; Functional Zoomorphology;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin plays an important role in metabolic regulation as well as in growth, fecundity and stress resistance. In order to understand more about the regulation of insulin-like peptide (DILP) production and release we investigate the impact of neuropeptide (DTK) signaling and classical neurotransmitter (GABA) signaling onto the insulin producing cells of the Drosophila brain. 3. 3. Tachykinin-related peptide signaling and its role in metabolic stress in Drosophila

    Författare :Ryan Tyge Birse; Dick Nässel; Micheal Pankrantz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurobiology; Neurobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Tachykinins (TKs) constitute a highly conserved family of multifunctional neuropeptides that are known to be involved in a multitude of functions in mammals. Peptides that are presumed ancestrally related to tachykinins, so called Tachykinin-related peptides (TKRP) have been identified in invertebrates. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Exposure to xenobiotic chemicals disrupts metabolism, rhythmicity and cell proliferation in Drosophila melanogaster

    Författare :Hao Cao; Helgi B. Schiöth; Michael J. Williams; Jan Larsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; xenobiotics; metabolism; insulin signalling; circadian rhythm; carcinogen; Biomedical Laboratory Science; Biomedicinsk laboratorievetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Most species are constantly exposed to xenobiotic chemicals through multiple routes. Among all categories of xenobiotics, phthalates and bisphenols are two of the most widely used plasticizers and can be found in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) materials, medical devices and even drinking water.
