1. Short-Pulse Photofragmentation and Fluorescence-based Diagnostics - Development and Applications
Sammanfattning : The work presented in the thesis covers the use of laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) and photofragmentation laser-induced fluorescence (PFLIF) with short laser pulses to determine species concentrations in different combustion environments. To attain quantitative species concentrations using LIF investigations of the influence of collisional quenching on the fluorescence signal strength is of vital importance, which can be done by measuring the fluorescence lifetime. 2. Development of fluorescence-based techniques for quantitative measurements of combustion species
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis covers how laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) and photofragmentation laser-induced fluorescence (PF-LIF) can be used to determine quantitative species concentrations in different combustion environments. To attain species concentrations with LIF it is of vital importance to investigate the influence of collisional quenching on the fluorescence signal strength, which can be done by measuring the fluorescence lifetime. 3. Nicotinic transmission and drugs in anesthesia : neuromuscular blocking agents and propofol : consequences for carotid body function
Sammanfattning : The carotid body is the global oxygen sensor of the human body. Acute hypoxia elicits instant hyperventilation mediated from the carotid body type 1 cells, where nicotinic transmission is a key component in oxygen sensing and signalling. LÄS MER
4. Physiological and biomechanical aspects of rifle carriage during biathlon skiing
Sammanfattning : Biathlon is an endurance-based winter sport that combines crosscountry (XC) skiing with rifle marksmanship. While skiing, biathletes carry the rifle (weighing ≥ 3.5 kg) on their backs. However, research regarding the effects of rifle carriage in biathlon is lacking. LÄS MER
5. Hur undervisning och guidade naturvetenskapliga undersökningar kan stödja elevers kreativitet
Sammanfattning : The use of guided instructions are often debated in science education research, but nevertheless often used in lower secondary school. The aim of this licentiate thesis is to contribute to knowledge about science education in lower secondary school when pupils’ do lab work using guided instructions. LÄS MER
