11. Evaluation of energy conserving measures in buildings connected to a district heating system : case studies in Gävle, Sweden
Sammanfattning : When different energy conserving measures are implemented for reducing energy use in buildings and the buildings are connected to district heating systems, it is important that an overall system analysis is made which takes into account the effects of total change of energy use due to the energy conserving measures. The method applied in this thesis uses hourly production data for the different production units in the district heating system in Gävle, Sweden. 12. Multi-platform metabolomics assays to study the responsiveness of the human plasma and lung lavage metabolome
Sammanfattning : Metabolomics as a field has been used to track changes and perturbations in the human body by investigating metabolite profiles indicating the change of metabolite levels over time and in response to different challenges. In this thesis work, the main focus was on applying multiplatform-metabolomics to study the human metabolome following exposure to perturbations, such as diet (in the form of a challenge meal) and exhaust emissions (air pollution exposure in a controlled setting). 13. An integrated approach to study pharmaceuticals and their microbial transformation products: formation and environmental behavior in water/sediment systems
Sammanfattning : Pharmaceuticals are emerging organic micropollutants that are frequently detected in the aquatic environment. While information on their environmental occurrence is substantial, knowledge gaps exist with respect to their environmental transformation. LÄS MER
14. A techno-economic system approach for the energy renovation of residential districts built before 1945
Sammanfattning : A key factor in the quest for sustainable development worldwide is reducing the energy use and greenhouse gas emissions from residential buildings. The residential and service sector represent 39% of the final energy use in Sweden. LÄS MER
15. Modelling District Heating Network Costs
Sammanfattning : The solution of the undergoing climate and energy crises requires a radical transformation of the energy system, in which sustainability, no carbon emissions and energy efficiency ought to play a paramount role. This revolution should extend to all areas of the energy system, including the space heating and cooling sector, which accounts for a third of the European final energy demand and, in the European continent, it is still mostly supplied by fossil fuels.
