  1. 1. Engineering Magnetic Droplets in Nanocontact Spin-Torque Nano-Oscillators

    Författare :Sheng Jiang; Johan Åkerman; Dario Arena; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Magnetic Droplet; Magnetic Tunnel Junction; Perpendicular Magnetic Anisotropy; Spin-torque Nano-Oscillators; Spin-Valve.; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Spin-torque nano-oscillators (STNOs) are nanoscale spintronic devices capable of generating highly tunable broadband microwave signals. In this thesis, I study nanocontact (NC)-based STNOs using strong perpendicular magnetic anisotropy(PMA) free layers, where a novel magnetic soliton—a magnetic droplet—exists. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Spin-torque transfer (STT) effects have brought spintronics ever closer to practical electronic applications, such as MRAM and active broadband microwave spin-torque oscillator (STO), and have emerged as an increasingly attractive field of research in spin dynamics. Utilizing materials with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) in such applications offers several great advantages such as low-current, low-field operation combined with high thermal stability. 3. 3. Spin-dependant transport in lateral nano-devices based on magnetic tunnel junctions

    Författare :Mattias Urech; Vladislav Korenivski; Bernard Dieny; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spin diffusion; magnetic tunnel junctions; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is an experimental study of spin dependent transport in nanoscale ferromagnetic tunnel junction arrays and lateral multi-terminal devices with normal metal and superconducting spin transport channels. Two-, three-, and five-junction arrays have been fabricated in the form of lateral circuits and characterized using variable temperature magneto-transport measurements. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : In recent years, the interest for miniaturization of spaceborne instruments and subsystems has increased steadily, as this enables development of small and lightweight satellite classes as well as more versatile payloads on traditional spacecraft. In essence, this thesis work is an investigation of the applicability of magnetoresistive technology to a magnetometer intended for space. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Coulomb Blockade Thermometry and Other Aspects of Tunnel Junction Arrays

    Författare :Tobias Bergsten; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : This report describes experimental results on a few different aspects of two-dimensional tunnel junction arrays: Coulomb blockade thermometry (CBT), Hall effect and Josephson array magnetometry (JAM). CBT is a primary thermometry method which is only a few years old. It is suitable for cryogenic temperatures between 20 mK and 30 K. LÄS MER
