  1. 1. Maf and Mitf transcription factors regulate pancreatic endocrine cell differentiation and function

    Författare :Magdalena Mazur; Stamcellscentrum (SCC); []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pancreas development; beta cells; insulin; MafA; MafB; Mitf; diabetes;

    Sammanfattning : Diabetes - the imbalance in glucose homeostasis is partially caused by loss or dysfunction of pancreatic insulin producing β cells or development of insulin resistance. In Type 1 diabetes β cells are destroyed in the process of an autoimmune attack, whereas in Type 2 diabetes, islets produce insufficient amounts of insulin or the insulin cannot be used adequately. 2. 2. Inflammation and impaired adipogenesis in human white adipose tissue

    Författare :Juan Ramón Acosta; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aimed to study inflammation and adipogenesis capacity in human subcutaneous white adipose tissue with respect to the development of obesity and associated comorbidities, including insulin resistance. Study I showed that the transcription factor, MAFB, was associated with increased adiposity and involved in regulation of TNFα-mediated inflammatory response, yet did not seem to directly influence adipogenesis or metabolism in human adipocytes. 3. 3. Novel aspects of metabolic regulation and inflammation in human adipocytes

    Författare :Annie Pettersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The significance of adipose tissue and obesity has been recognized in numerous pathologies. However, the mechanisms behind this connection are not yet completely understood. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The Role of Maf Transcription Factors in Islet Inflammation and Βeta Cell Function

    Författare :Tania Singh; Stamcellscentrum (SCC); []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Diabetes; T cells; pancreas; resident lymphocytes; autoimmunity; Insulin secretion; pancreas development; Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes; inflammation and leukocyte; Cytokines: immunology; Transcription Factor MAFs; Interferons;

    Sammanfattning : Endocrine disorders that lead to a state of chronic high blood glucose levels are collectively referred to as diabetes. This metabolic disease is mainly categorized into type 1 (T1D) and type 2 diabetes (T2D). These diabetic forms originate from distinct triggering environmental, genetic, and altered mechanisms.
