  2. 2. Palaeobiology and diversification of Proterozoic-Cambrian photosynthetic eukaryotes

    Författare :Heda Agić; Małgorzata Moczydłowska; Shuhai Xiao; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microfossils; eukaryotes; Mesoproterozoic; Neoproterozoic; Cambrian; Ordovician; palaeobiology; biostratigraphy; phylogeny; China; Estonia; Siberian Platform; prasinophytes; microstructure; Raman spectroscopy; Earth Science with specialization in Historical Geology and Palaeontology; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot historisk geologi och paleontologi;

    Sammanfattning : One of the most important events in the history of life is the evolution of the complex, eukaryotic cell. The eukaryotes are complex organisms with membrane-bound intracellular structures, and they include a variety of both single-celled and multicellular organisms: plants, animals, fungi and various protists. 3. 3. Cambro-Ordovician microorganisms: acritarchs and endoliths

    Författare :Martin Stockfors; Malgorzata Vidal-Moczydlowska; John S. Peel; Kenneth John Dorning; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; Cambrian; Ordovician; acritarch; endolith; Kolguev Island; North Greenland; Stratigraphy; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Organic-walled microfossils are abundant and taxonomically diverse in Cambrian-Ordovician strata; some are important for biostratigraphy and for the correlation of geological successions. New assemblages of Cambrian-Ordovician acritarchs from Kolguev Island, Arctic Russia and Middle Cambrian ichnofossils of endoliths from Peary Land, North Greenland are studied. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The Greenhouse - Icehouse Transition : a dinoflagellate perspective

    Författare :Caroline A. van Mourik; Henk Brinkhuis; Malgorzata Moczydlowska-Vidal; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Eocene - Oligocene; dinoflagellate cysts; biostratigraphy; paleoecology; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Through the analysis of the stratigraphic and spatial distribution of organic walled dinoflagellate cysts (dinocysts) from climatologically and oceanographically key sites, this project aims to contribute to a better understanding of the Eocene-Oligocene (E/O) environmental changes and their timing. A central issue is to identify the global environmental changes which are responsible for the Eocene cooling and its underlying mechanisms with the focus on the Oligocene isotope-1 (Oi-1) event, thought to mark the onset of major Antarctic glaciation. 5. 5. The Ediacaran Diversification of Organic-walled Microbiota : Ocean Life 600 Million Years Ago

    Författare :Sebastian Willman; Małgorzata Moczydłowska-Vidal; John Peel; Shuhai Xiao; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Earth sciences; acritarchs; Ediacaran; Australia; biostratigraphy; microfossils; Geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The only direct evidence of past life is provided by fossils. Fossils tell us about the evolution of life on Earth and they give us clues concerning ancient environments. The Ediacaran Period (roughly 635-542 million years ago) is characterised by the appearance and diversification of various microbiota and also the diversification of metazoans. LÄS MER
