  1. 6. The Role of SOX9 in Medulloblastoma

    Författare :Vasil Savov; Fredrik Swartling; Ulrich Schüller; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medulloblastoma; SOX9; MYCN; cancer development; recurrence; regulation; tumor metastasis; migration; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Medulloblastoma (MB) is the most common malignant pediatric brain tumor. Overall survival is about 70% and in cases where current treatment fails, the disease recurs and most often is fatal. At the molecular level, MB can be divided into four defined subgroups: WNT, SHH, Group 3 and Group 4. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Oncogenic ALK signaling in neuroblastoma

    Författare :Ganesh Umapathy; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anaplastic lymphoma kinase; neuroblastoma; ERK5; Akt; MYCN; mTOR;

    Sammanfattning : Over the last decade Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase (ALK), a receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) has been identified as a translocation partner in diverse cancer types. In tumors, where the full-length ALK RTK itself is mutated, such as neuroblastoma, the picture is less clear regarding ALKs role as an oncogenic driver. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase mutations and downstream signalling

    Författare :Christina Schönherr; Ruth H Palmer; Aristidis Moustakas; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase; oncogene; RTK; neuroblastoma; crizotinib; NVP-TAE684; gain-of-function; MYCN; transcription factor; small GTPase; Rap1; C3G; PC12 cells; neurite outgrowth; molecular cell biology; molekylär cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The oncogene Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase (ALK) is a Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (RTK) and was initially discovered as the fusion protein NPM (nucleophosmin)-ALK in a subset of Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphomas (ALCL). Since then more fusion proteins have been identified in a variety of cancers. LÄS MER

  4. 9. From Genes to Therapy : Modeling and Novel Therapeutic Strategies for Brain Tumors

    Författare :Matko Čančer; Fredrik Swartling; Lene Uhrbom; Suzanne J. Baker; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medulloblastoma; Glioblastoma; MYCN; PDGF; Cancer Therapy; BET bromodomains; Temozolomide; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Medulloblastoma is the most common malignant pediatric brain tumor and is molecularly divided into four subgroups – WNT, SHH, Group 3 and Group 4. Two thirds of medulloblastoma patients survive, but survivors often suffer from severe, lifelong side-effects. The MYCN oncogene is deregulated in many medulloblastoma patients. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Modulation of retinal progenitors : A bird’s-eye view of retinal regeneration and disease

    Författare :Dardan Konjusha; Finn Hallböök; Rusty Lansford; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental neurobiology; Retinoblastoma; MYCN; Cone photoreceptor; Nolz1; Endothelin; Müller cells;

    Sammanfattning : The cell populations of the retina and their intricate organization provide us with one of the most important senses – vision. All retinal cell populations are derived from a common progenitor pool as a result of tight regulation of proliferation, differentiation, dedifferentiation, and programmed cell death. LÄS MER
