  1. 1. Lead in blood. ICP-MS studies of lead in plasma, blood and erythrocyte proteins

    Författare :Ingvar A Bergdahl; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; distribution; plasma; blood; erythrocytes; lead-binding prtoeins; delta-aminlevulinic acid dehydratase; inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry; ALAD; arbetsmiljömedicin; Occupational health; industrial medicine; Lead; toxicity; ICP-MS; Yrkesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : An inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) method for the determination of lead in blood plasma has been developed. The detection limit was below 0.1 microgram/liter, and the precision 5%. There was no significant difference between levels in plasma and serum. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Multi-platform metabolomics assays to study the responsiveness of the human plasma and lung lavage metabolome

    Författare :Masoumeh Karimpour; Malin Nording L.; Magnus Åberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; LC MS; GC MS; NMR; metabolomics; metabolite; exposure; postprandial; plasma; lung lavage; BW; BW; data analysis; univariate analysis; multivariate analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Metabolomics as a field has been used to track changes and perturbations in the human body by investigating metabolite profiles indicating the change of metabolite levels over time and in response to different challenges. In this thesis work, the main focus was on applying multiplatform-metabolomics to study the human metabolome following exposure to perturbations, such as diet (in the form of a challenge meal) and exhaust emissions (air pollution exposure in a controlled setting). 3. 3. Protein adducts in plasma as biomarkers of exposure to and risk of organic acid anhydrides

    Författare :Seema Rosqvist; Neurokirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; GC-MS; IgG; IgE; exposure-response; serum albumin; biological monitoring; Hexahydrophthalic anhydride; methylhexahydrophthalic anhydride; OEL; Occupational health; industrial medicine; Yrkesmedicin; arbetsmiljömedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Organic acid anhydrides (OAAs) are important industrial chemicals but also potent inducers of airways diseases. Many exposed workers develop specific IgE and IgG antibodies. Hexahydrophthalic anhydride (HHPA) and methylhexahydrophthalic anhydride (MHHPA) are two particularly sensitising OAAs. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Metabolism and Biological Monitoring of Organic Acid Anhydrides

    Författare :Christian Lindh; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; rats; human; distribution; analysis; biological monitoring; autoradiography; adducts; hemoglobin; plasma; urine; Hexahydrophthalic anhydride; methyltetrahydrophthalic anhydride; guinea pigs; Occupational health; industrial medicine; Yrkesmedicin; arbetsmiljömedicin;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to describe the metabolism and to develope methods for biological monitoring for two organic acid anhydrides (OAAs), namely hexahydrophthalic anhydride (HHPA) and methylhexa-hydrophthalic anhydride (MHHPA). The OAAs are reactive, low molecular weight chemicals used in vast quantities in the industry. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Analysis, metabolism, effects and biological monitoring of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone

    Författare :Martin Carnerup; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Yrkesmedicin; arbetsmiljömedicin; industrial medicine; Occupational health; developmental toxicity; biomarkers; metabolsim; N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone; dermal absorption;

    Sammanfattning : N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) is an organic solvent widely used in the industry. Irritation of the eyes and in the respiratory system has been reported after occupational exposure to low air levels of NMP. The EU has also classified it as a developmental toxicant. NMP is easily absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and airways and through skin. LÄS MER
