1. Evaluation of MRI as a diagnostic method in biliary tract conditions
Sammanfattning : The diagnostic value of modern fast pulse sequences and breath-hold technique was evaluated in a prospective study of patients with suspected biliary diseases. The cost-effectiveness of MRI compared to ultrasound was calculated. LÄS MER
2. Magnetic resonance imaging as a tool for diagnosis, evaluation, and prognosis in patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis
Sammanfattning : Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a chronic liver and bile duct disease of unknown etiology. It usually progresses to liver failure and need for liver transplantation. Additionally, patients with PSC have an increased risk of developing hepatobiliary malignancies, predominantly cholangiocarcinoma. LÄS MER
3. Non-Invasive Characterization of Liver Disease : By Multimodal Quantitative Magnetic Resonance
Sammanfattning : There is a large and unmet need for diagnostic tool that can be used to characterize chronic liver diseases (CLD). In the earlier stages of CLD, much of the diagnostics involves performing biopsies, which are evaluated by a histopathologist for the presence of e.g. fat, iron, inflammation, and fibrosis. LÄS MER
4. Gallbladder and pancreatic disease in patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis
Sammanfattning : The aims of this study were to assess the occurrence of gallbladder abnormalities and dysfunction, to evaluate clinically useful biomarkers for premalignancy and malignancy in gallbladder epithelium and to assess presence of pancreatic duct changes and early pancreatic abnormalities in patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). In paper I and III we investigated presence of gallbladder abnormalities in 286 patients with PSC treated at Karolinska University Hospital, Huddinge, between 1970 and 2005. LÄS MER
5. New technologies for the further advancement of ERCP
Sammanfattning : Background: The capabilities of conventional endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) are hampered by several limitations. Newly developed adjunct technologies such as single operator peroral cholangiopancreatoscopy (SOPCP) and new imaging techniques could overcome some of these limitations, but their role in common clinical practice have not yet been established.
