  1. 1. Gene and protein expression in denervated atrophic and hypertrophic skeletal muscle

    Författare :Marlene Norrby; Sven Tågerud; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Skeletal muscle; Denervation; Hypertrophy; Atrophy; Gene expression; Protein expression; Protein phosphorylation; NIFK; Wnt; MK2; Akt signaling;

    Sammanfattning : Following denervation skeletal muscles change their functional and structural properties. Some changes resemble conditions in developing muscles and may be important for reinnervation. Due to inactivity following denervation most skeletal muscles loose muscle mass and become atrophic. 2. 2. Protein expression and modifications in denervated atrophic and hypertrophic skeletal muscle

    Författare :Kim Evertsson; Sven Tågerud; Håkan Westerblad; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Skeletal muscle; denervation; atrophy; hypertrophy; protein expression; protein phosphorylation; Akt; p38; MK2; Hsp25; Hsp70; FoxO1; MuRF1; autophagy; Lamp1; Lc3; Biomedical Sciences; Biomedicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Skeletal muscle comprises about 45% of the total body weight. It is the largest tissue in the body, vital for maintaining posture, produce locomotion, breathing but also functions as a large reservoir of proteins. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Signaling factors related to atrophy and hypertrophy in denervated skeletal muscle

    Författare :Ann-Kristin Fjällström; Sven Tågerud; Jan Henriksson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Atrophy; Hypertrophy; Skeletal muscle; Denervation; Protein synthesis; Protein degradation; Biomedical Sciences; Biomedicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The human body consists of about 40 % skeletal muscles which control the body’s movement, ability to stand up, force generation, locomotion, heat production and are also the body’s protein reservoir. Muscle mass is controlled by the relationship between protein synthesis and protein degradation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Scandium Nitride Thin Films for Thermoelectrics

    Författare :Sit Kerdsongpanya; Per Eklund; Björn Alling; Lars Hultman; Gunilla Wingqvist; Heiner Linke; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Thermoelectric devices are one of the promising energy harvesting technologies, since they can convert heat (i.e. a temperature gradient) to electricity. This result leads us to use them to harvest waste heat from heat engines or in power plants to generate usable electricity. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Cellular responses to the DNA damaging cytolethal distending toxin

    Författare :Lina Guerra; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cytolethal distending toxin (CDT) is a genotoxin, which belongs to a group of bacterial protein toxins called cyclomodulins. These are characterized by their interference with the eukaryotic cell cycle. CDT causes DNA damage, which induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. LÄS MER
