    Sammanfattning : The biological functions of proteins depend on their physical interactions with other molecules, such as proteins and peptides. Therefore, modeling the protein-ligand interactions is important for understanding protein functions in different biological processes. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Genetic Factors and Nasal Tolerance in Rat Models for Rheumatoid Arthritis

    Författare :Shemin Lu; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nasal tolerance; linkage analysis; MHC; genetics; pristane induced arthritis; rheumatoid arthritis; collagen induced arthritis; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : We used three animal models of rats for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in this study. Firstly, We found that CXI induced arthritis (CXIIA) is associated with the RT1 f haplotype and follows a chronic disease course affecting peripheral joints with both progression and relapses. 3. 13. Experimental Neuroretinal Transplantation

    Författare :Fredrik Ghosh; Lund Oftalmologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Transplant; Retinal degeneration; Retina; Rabbit; Neural development; Immunohistochemistry; MHC; Ultrastructure; Vitrectomy; Ophtalmology; Oftalmologi;

    Sammanfattning : Embryonic full-thickness rabbit neuroretinal sheets were transplanted to the subretinal space of adult hosts. This was accomplished by using a new transplantation technique involving vitrectomy and retinotomy. The grafts were followed from 10 to 306 days after surgery, and were then examined by different histological techniques. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Asymmetric Synthesis of C-Glycosylated Amino Acids : Incorporation in Collagen Glycopeptides and Evaluation in a Model for Rheumatoid Arthritis

    Författare :Tomas Gustafsson; Jan Kihlberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Total synthesis; stereoselective synthesis; chiral glycine templates; Evan’s alkylation; asymmetric hydrogenation; alpha-amino acid synthesis; C-glycoside; rheumatoid arthritis; MHC; T cell; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes stereoselective syntheses of four amino acids, three of which are C-glycosidic analogues of glycosylated amino acids. The overall goal of the project was to probe the interactions between MHC molecules, glycopeptide antigens and T cell receptors, that are essential for development of collagen induced arthritis. Sammanfattning : To be able to make informed descicions regarding the research of new drug molecules (ligands), it is crucial to have access to information regarding the chemical interaction between the drug and its biological target (protein). Computer-based methods have a given role in drug research today and, by using methods such as molecular docking, it is possible to investigate the way in which ligands and proteins interact. LÄS MER
