    Sammanfattning : In recent years, nanostructured materials incorporated with inorganic particles and polymers have attracted attention for simultaneous multifunctional biomedical applications. This thesis summarized three works, which are preparation of mesoporous silica coated superparamagnetic iron oxide ([email protected]) nanoparticles (NPs) as magnetic resonance imaging T2 contrast agents, polymer grafted [email protected] NPs response to temperature change, synthesis and biocompatibility evaluation of high aspect ratio (AR) gold nanorods. 2. 2. Exosomes : Nano-vesicles in immune regulation

    Författare :Sara M Johansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Nano-vesicles (30-100 nm) with an endosome-derived limiting membrane are called exosomes. These are released from the cell when the endosome fuses with the outer cell membrane. Exosomes from antigen presenting cells (APC) carry MHC class I and class II as well as integrins, tetraspanins and co-stimulatory molecules. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Interactions of engineered and endogenous nanoparticles with cells in the immune system

    Författare :Helen Vallhov; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Nanotechnology is a fast developing area, which refers to research and technology development at the nanometer scale, ranging from 0.1-100 nm. The properties of nanomaterials offer the ability to interact with complex biological functions, implying enormous opportunities for novel applications within medicine. LÄS MER
