  1. 11. Solution to boundary-contact problems of elasticity in mathematical models of the printing-plate contact system for flexographic printing

    Författare :Nikolai Kotik; Yury Shestopalov; Stig Larsson; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; boundary-contact problem; elasticity; integral equation; approximate decomposition; Applied mathematics; Tillämpad matematik; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Sammanfattning : Boundary-contact problems (BCPs) are studied within the frames ofclassical mathematical theory of elasticity and plasticityelaborated by Landau, Kupradze, Timoshenko, Goodier, Fichera andmany others on the basis of analysis of two- and three-dimensionalboundary value problems for linear partial differential equations.A great attention is traditionally paid both to theoreticalinvestigations using variational methods and boundary singularintegral equations (Muskhelishvili) and construction of solutionsin the form that admit efficient numerical evaluation (Kupradze). 2. 12. Numerical Conformal mappings for regions Bounded by Smooth Curves

    Författare :Anders Andersson; Börje Nilsson; Joachim Toft; Michael Benedicks; Växjö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Schwarz-Christoffel mapping; rounded corners; tangent polygons; outer polygon; zipper algorithm; Schwarz-Christoffelavbildningen; rundade hörn; tangentpolygoner; yttre polygoner; zipper-algoritmer; Applied mathematics; Tillämpad matematik; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Sammanfattning : Inom många tillämpningar används konforma avbildningar för att transformera tvådimensionella områden till områden med enklare utseende. Ett exempel på ett sådant område är en kanal av varierande tjocklek begränsad av en kontinuerligt deriverbar kurva. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Numerical Conformal Mappings for Waveguides

    Författare :Anders Andersson; Börje Nilsson; Joachim Toft; Michael Benedicks; Växjö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; waveguide; building block method; numerical conformal mappings; Schwarz–Christoffel mapping; rounded corners method; approximate curve factors; outer polygon method; boundary curvature; zipper method; geodesic algorithm; acoustic wave scattering; electro-magnetic wave scattering; Applied mathematics; Tillämpad matematik; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Sammanfattning : Acoustic or electro-magnetic scattering in a waveguide with varying direction and cross-section can be re-formulated as a two-dimensional scattering problem, provided that the variations take place in only one dimension at a time. By using the so-called Building Block Method, it is possible to construct the scattering properties of a combination of scatterers when the properties of each scatterer are known. LÄS MER

  4. 14. On the causes and effects of specialization : A mathematical approach

    Författare :Micael Ehn; Kimmo Eriksson; Johan Lind; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Specialization; Division of labor; matematical model; social stratification; Applied mathematics; Tillämpad matematik; Mathematics Applied Mathematics; Matematik tillämpad matematik;

    Sammanfattning : Division of labor and division of knowledge are so important andcommon in society today that it is almost impossible to imagine asociety where everyone knows the same things and perform the sametasks. This would be a society where everyone grows, or gathers, andprepares their own food, makes their own tools, builds their ownhouse, and so on. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Mixed Effects Modeling of Deterministic and Stochastic Dynamical Systems - Methods and Applications in Drug Development

    Författare :Jacob Leander; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pharmacometrics; pharmacokinetics; mixed effects; drug development; pharmacodynamics; parameter estimation; time-to-event; mathematical modeling; dynamical systems;

    Sammanfattning : Mathematical models based on ordinary differential equations (ODEs) are commonly used for describing the evolution of a system over time. In drug development, pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) models are used to characterize the exposure and effect of drugs. LÄS MER
