1. NMR STUDIES ON STRUCTURE AND DYNAMICS OF TWO-DOMAIN PROTEINS
Sammanfattning : The general objective of the present thesis work was to examine 3-dimensional structure as well as the motional properties of two different types of two-domain proteins by solution-state NMR. One of the major tasks of this thesis work was to investigate the domain orientation of these molecules by employing residual dipolar couplings (RDC) which can be used as orientational restraints for increasing the accuracy of protein structures determined by NMR. 2. Investigating cellulose structure using solid-state NMR spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Cellulose is the most abundant polymer in nature and it is an important constituent in most flowers, trees, and even some animals. Cellulose has an established use in many important products, such as textile fibers, paper and paperboard, and recently new applications have received increased attention. LÄS MER
3. Investigating structural changes of cellulose using NMR spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : In this thesis solid-state NMR and NMR cryoporometry were used to gain information of the structure of cellulose. Measurements were conducted on both native and regenerated cellulose, exposed to a range of different treatments. LÄS MER
4. Bax and oxidized phospholipids - a deadly complex : Apoptotic protein-lipid assemblies studied by MAS NMR spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Mitochondria are renowned for their vital role as cellular powerhouses because they provide ATP via cellular respiration. Additionally, these organelles also play an important role in other physiological processes, such as apoptosis. LÄS MER
5. Development of Novel Diffusion NMR Methods : Preclinical Applications in Colloidal Model Systems
Sammanfattning : NMR is a powerful non-invasive technique utilizing radiofrequency and gradient pulses to manipulate the spinsof atomic nuclei. In particular, diffusion NMR uses strong magnetic field gradients to label the positions of spins allowing for the measurement of translational motion of molecules in liquids. LÄS MER
