  1. 1. Solid waste and the water enviroment in the new European Union perspective

    Författare :Marcia Marques; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Processes that occur during storageand final disposal ofsolid waste were studied, with emphasis on physical andchemical aspects and their effects on the water environment,within the New European Union perspective for landfilling(Council Directive 1999/31/EC, 1999).In the new scenario, landfilling is largely restricted;waste treatments such as incineration, composting, recycling,storage and transportation of materials are intensified. 2. 2. Occurrence and ecotoxicity of endocrine disruptor chemicals in aquatic environment and sewage treatment systems

    Författare :Andre Luis de Sa Salomao; Marcia Marques; Paulo Sergio Martins Carvalho; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Endocrine disruption; Alkali-labile phosphate; Estrogen hormones; Oreochromis niloticus; Unicellular green microalgae; Additive effect; Less-than additive effect; Chronic toxicity; Natural Science; Naturvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The applicability of one selected method for indirect measurement of vitellogenin (Vtg) in fish plasma based on the quantification of alkali-labile phosphates (ALP method) to assess estrogenicity in water was investigated. The ALP method applied in this investigation was originally developed with Carassius carassius (Crucian carps). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Treatment of Wastewater Generated by Wood-based Dry Industries : Advances Oxidation Processes & Electrocoagulation

    Författare :Henrik Hansson; William Hogland; Marcia Marques; Ollie Dahl; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Advanced oxidation processes; Electrocoagulation; Fenton; Industrial storm-water; Ozone; Respirometry assays; Wastewater; Wood floor industry.; Environmental Chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Sammanfattning : Wood is a material with an enormous number of applications. For decades, the development of wastewater treatment technologies tailored for the wood sector has focused on those industries that have water as an integral part of the industrial production, such as paper and pulp. 4. 4. Removal of Inorganic Anionic Pollutants from Water using Adsorption Technology

    Författare :Eva Kumar; William Hogland; Marcia Marques; Mika Sillanpää; Kenneth M. Persson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Water treatment; adsorption; inorganic anionic pollutants; granular ferric hydroxide GFH ; nano-alumina; adsorption isotherms; adsorption kinetics; modeling.; Miljövetenskap; Environmental Science; Environmental technology; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In the era of urbanization, industrialization and population growth, groundwater and drinking water sources are getting adversely polluted due to the addition of different toxic contaminants including inorganic anionic pollutants. The inorganic anions are of serious concern due to their adverse health effects on humans, even when present at very low concentrations in water. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Wastewater generated by the wooden floor industry : Treatability investigation applying individual and coupled technologies

    Författare :Sawanya Laohaprapanon; William Hogland; Marcia Marques; Eduardo C. Pires; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Wooden floor industry; activated carbon sorption filtration; anaerobic biological treatment; chemical precipitation; electrocoagulation; ecotoxicity; Miljövetenskap; Environmental Science; Environmental technology; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : During the last half-century a growing concern has taken place in the world regarding water shortage and public health associated to water pollution. Safe discharges of industrial effluents and water reuse within the industry have been encouraged and several initiatives have promoted the development of wastewater treatment technologies with the main focus on industrial sectors that generate large volumes of wastewater.
