  1. 1. Muscarinic Receptors in the Urinary Bladder - The role of the urothelium regarding cholinergic and nitrergic effects in inflammation

    Författare :Michael Andersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; urinary bladder; inflammation; cyclophosphamide-induced cystitis; muscarinic receptor; urothelium; nitric oxide; M5 receptor; rat; proliferation; micturition;

    Sammanfattning : Inflammation alters the functional properties of the urinary bladder. Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a chronic inflammatory syndrome in man that is characterized by urgency, frequency and visceral pain. LÄS MER

  2. 2. On the Autonomic Control of Blood Flow and Secretion in Salivary Glands. Functional and morphological aspects on muscarinic receptor subtypes in different species

    Författare :Anders Ryberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Muscarinic receptor subtype; neuronal; non-neuronal; expression; secretion; blood flow; salivary gland; human; rat; sheep;

    Sammanfattning : Parasympathetic nervous activity is the principal stimulus for evoking fluid responses within salivary glands. Concomitantly to the onset of this response, the blood flow increases. LÄS MER

  3. 3. On the autonomic control of the lower urinary tract. Functional and morphological aspects in the normal and the inflamed urinary bladder

    Författare :Daniel Giglio; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; muscarinic receptor; purinoceptor; adrenoceptor; nitric oxide; in vitro; in vivo; cystometry; Western blot; immunohistochemistry; cystitis; cyclophosphamide; urinary bladder; rat;

    Sammanfattning : The regulation of urinary bladder function involves interplay of signalling systems. Disturbances in any of the interactive systems may result in lower tract dysfunction, which is often apparent to the patient by urge to void or by incontinence, irrespectively of the cause to the lower tract syndrome. 4. 4. Muscarinic receptors and urinary bladder selectivity : Properties that determine the organ selectivity of compounds

    Författare :Staffan Sundquist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical biosciences; bladder; muscarinic; receptor subtypes; smooth muscle; multivariate; Farmaceutisk biovetenskap; Biopharmacy; Biofarmaci; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : Urinary bladder contraction is mainly mediated by activation of muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (mAChR). Muscarinic antagonists are often effective in treatment of unstable bladder. The effectiveness of this treatment has often been limited by side effects as dry mouth. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Streptococcus pyogenes and its interactions with the human host

    Författare :Ulrika Ringdahl; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Infections; mykologi; virologi; bakteriologi; M protein; Streptococcus pyogenes; plasminogen; fibrinogen; phagocytosis; platelet; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; Mikrobiologi; mycology; Infektioner; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : We have found that a set of group A streptococcal strains, primarily associated with skin infections, express surface-associated M proteins that bind plasminogen and plasmin with high affinity. The binding is mediated by a common 13 amino acid internal repeated sequence located in the NH2-terminal surface-exposed portion of these M proteins. LÄS MER
