21. Physical and Chemical Processes in the Formation of Biogenic secondary Organic Aerosols
Sammanfattning : Vegetation emits a vast number of biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOC). In the atmosphere they are oxidised, predominantly by O3, OH radicals or NO3 radicals, depending e.g. on chemical structure. LÄS MER
22. Child sexual abuse : disclosure, social support and subjective health in adulthood
Sammanfattning : Child sexual abuse (CSA) is a known risk factor for ill-health. It is assumed that the health consequences are worse if the abuse has been considered severe or if the child has been exposed to cumulative trauma, e.g. physical abuse or other stressful life events. LÄS MER
23. Unravelling the duality of Caregivinghood - How informal caregivers describe their situation when salutogenically approached
Sammanfattning : Demographic changes and an emphasis on community care, increase the number of informal caregivers to older adults in most societies. Their willingness to provide care and that they are healthy enough to manage, is essential. LÄS MER
24. Side-chain oxidized oxysterols as metabolic regulators in liver and brain
Sammanfattning : Oxysterols are oxygenated derivatives of cholesterol characterized by a very short half-life and their ability to pass lipophilic membranes easily, thus they are considered as important intermediates in cholesterol excretion pathways and its conversion to bile acids. The two major oxysterols in the circulation of human and mouse are 24S-hydroxycholesterol (24S-OH) and 27-hydroxycholesterol (27-OH), which are formed by the cytochrome P450 enzymes cholesterol 24-hydroxylase (CYP46A1) and sterol 27-hydroxylase (CYP27A1), respectively. 25. Side-chain oxidized oxysterols as metabolic regulators in vivo
Sammanfattning : Oxysterols are oxygenated derivatives of cholesterol characterized by a very short half- life and their ability to pass lipophilic membranes easily, and they are considered as important intermediates in the excretion pathways of cholesterol and its conversion to bile acids. Evidence has been presented that the production and flux of oxysterols in the brain may also be of some importance for cognitive functions. LÄS MER
