1. Nucleotide Binding to Trimeric dUTPase: Studies on Recombinant Enzymes using Kinetic and Spectroscopic Methods
Sammanfattning : Recombinant dUTPase from the bacterium Escherichia coli, the retrovirus equine infectious anemia virus (EIAV) and Homo sapiens have been made available for physico-chemical characterisation. The protocols developed have also proven to be suitable for production of enzymes modified by isotope labelling or other methods. LÄS MER
2. Secondary metabolites from the saprotrophic fungus Granulobasidium vellereum
Sammanfattning : The production of secondary metabolites by the saprotrophic fungus Granulobasidium vellereum was investigated. G. vellereum is a wood decomposing basidiomycete fungus that arrives at dead trunks of fallen hard wood trees at a later stage of the decomposition process and hence need to outcompete the organisms already colonizing the site. 3. Remote sensing in optically complex waters : water quality assessment using MERIS data
Sammanfattning : This PhD study focusses on the use of MEdium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS) data for reliable and quantitative water-quality assessment of optically-complex waters (lake, brackish and coastal waters). The thesis is divided into two parts: A. LÄS MER
4. Hype or Hope? : The Democratic Values of Swedish Hyperlocals in the Media Ecology
Sammanfattning : Local media are often credited with an integral role in the local community, tying individuals together in a shared identity or community, where local news can foster community engagement and audience participation, providing more agency in democratic processes (Lie, 2018b; Nelson & Kim, 2020; Wenzel, 2019).This doctoral compilation thesis focuses on so-called “hyperlocal media”, which are typically citizen-led, participatory and largely independent (Turner, 2015), with content concentrated to a small geographically defined community (Radcliffe, 2012).
