  1. 6. Cytokine responses in human Lyme borreliosis : The role of T helper 1-like immunity and aspects of gender and co-exposure in relation to disease course

    Författare :Sara Jarefors; Christina Ekerfelt; Pia Forsberg; Jan Enerudh; Chatarina Svanborg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Borrelia; human granulocytic anaplasmosis; cytokine; immunology; chronic; Clinical immunology; Klinisk immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Lyme borreliosis was first described some 30 years ago in the USA. Today, it is the most common vector borne disease in Europe and the USA. The disease can have multiple stages and symptoms can manifest from various parts of the body; joints, skin heart and nervous system. In Europe, neuroborreliosis is the most frequent late stage diagnosis. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Immune responses in human lyme borreliosis : cytokines and IgG subclasses in relation to clinical outcome

    Författare :Mona Widhe; Anders Örn; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Lyme borreliosis is a tick-borne infectious disease caused by the spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato. The disease is characterised by several disease stages, where multiple organ systems might be affected, e.g. the skin, nervous system, heart or joints. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Host-seeking activity of Ixodes ricinus in relation to the epidemiology of Lyme borreliosis in Sweden

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines seasonal, diel and vertical distribution patterns of activity of host-seeking Ixodes ricinus (L.) ticks at three localities in south-central Sweden. In addition, by examining the prevalence of infection in ticks with Lyme borreliosis (LB) spirochetes, Borrelia burgdorferi s. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Clinical, epidemiological and immunological aspects of Lyme borreliosis with special focus on the role of the complement system

    Sammanfattning : Lyme borreliosis (LB) is the most common vector-borne disease in the Northern Hemisphere. The infection is caused by spirochetes belonging to the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato complex, and it is transmitted to humans by ticks. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Clinical and Immunological Aspects of Lyme borreliosis

    Författare :Johanna Sjöwall; Pia Forsberg; Ekerfelt Ekerfelt; Jan Ernerudh; Jarmo Oksi; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Lyme borreliosis (LB) is a tick-borne infection caused by spirochetes of the Borrelia (B.) burgdorferi sensu lato complex. The infection is associated with several clinical features, of which erythema migrans (EM) and neuroborreliosis (NB) are the most common in Europe. The prognosis after antibiotic therapy is generally good. LÄS MER
