  1. 6. Cone Beam Computed Tomography in Evaluations of Some Side Effects of Orthodontic Treatment

    Författare :Henrik Lund; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cone beam computed tomography; orthodontics; adolescents; root resorption; marginal bone height;

    Sammanfattning : In the late 1990s a new imaging modality, Cone Beam CT (CBCT) that enables high quality three-dimensional imaging at lower doses than Computed Tomography (CT), was introduced in dento-maxillofacial imaging. In 2005 the Swedish Council on Health Technology Assessment (SBU), in a review of scientific articles on Malocclusions and Orthodontic Treatment in a Health Perspective, found low or contradictive evidence for an association between orthodontic treatment and risks for negative side effects. 2. 7. Problems of language and communication in children; Identification and intervention

    Författare :Barbro Bruce; foniatri och audiologi Logopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; auditive system and speech; Otorinolaryngologi; audiology; Medicin människa och djur ; Otorhinolaryngology; Interaction; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Intervention; Screening; Language and communication problems; audiologi; hörsel- och talorganen; ADHD; Identification;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses identification and intervention of language and communication problems in children. The issue of identification is addressed in study I by investigating communicative ability in 18-month-old children, and in study II by exploring the prevalence of language and communication problems in children with complex problems, such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). 3. 8. Lithium formate EPR dosimetry for accurate measurements of absorbed dose in radiotherapy

    Författare :Emelie Adolfsson; Åsa Carlsson Tedgren; Eva Lund; Håkan Gustafsson; Sara Olsson; Gudrun Alm Carlsson; Peter Sharpe; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Lithium formate has shown to be a material with properties suitable for electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) dosimetry, among them up to 7 times higher sensitivity compared to alanine, which is a well-established EPR detector material for dose determinations in radiotherapy.The aim of this thesis was to further investigate the properties of lithium formate and develop the dosimetry system towards applications in radiotherapy. 4. 9. Quantitative Magnetic Resonance in Diffuse Neurological and Liver Disease

    Författare :Olof Dahlqvist Leinhard; Peter Lundberg; Anne-Marie Landtblom; Marcel Warntjes; Eva Lund; Göran Starck; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiological physics; Radiofysik;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging is one of the most important diagnostic tools in modern medicine. Compared to other imaging modalities, it provides superior soft tissue contrast of all parts of the body and it is considered to be safe for patients. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Chewing gum and human hair as retrospective dosimeters

    Författare :Axel Israelsson; Håkan B.L. Pettersson; Eva Lund; Håkan Gustafsson; Mats Eriksson; Bastian Breustedt; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Retrospective dosimeters are sometimes needed after radiological/nuclear (RN) exposures to determine the doses to individuals. Conventional dosimeters may not be at hand or may not be applicable calling for alternative materials. LÄS MER
