11. Functional Recovery after Experimental Stroke in Mice- Involvement of Enriched Environment, BDNF and Cell Genesis
Sammanfattning : Stroke is caused by an obstruction of blood flow to a part of the brain, resulting in brain damage. Stroke is the third most common cause of death in the industrialized world, and the primary cause of adult-onset disability. LÄS MER
12. Antibiotics in patients on chemotherapy; aspects on pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic interactions with antineoplastic drugs
Sammanfattning : The aims of these studies were to investigate the pharmacokinetics of two beta-lactam antibiotics in patients with fever and cytostatic-induced neutropenia and the influence of cytostatic-induced gastrointestinal damage on the absorption of co-trimoxazole. Furthermore to study the pharmacodynamic interactions between antibiotics and antineoplastic drugs and the impact of antineoplastic drugs on the intestinal microflora. LÄS MER
13. Ischemic Cell Death in the CNS - applications of a new in vitro model
Sammanfattning : Ischemic brain damage is a common cause of death and disability. A global ischemic insult is usually the result of a transient cardiac arrest while occlusion of cerebral blood vessels leads to focal ischemic lesions, commonly termed stroke. LÄS MER
14. LYME BORRELIOSIS Detection and identification of the infecting genotype
Sammanfattning : Lyme borreliosis is caused by the spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato, a bacterium with a parasitic life-style, which is transmitted between hosts by the Ixodes tick-vector. Humans will incidentally become infected. The resulting illness can involve the skin, nervous system, joints and heart. LÄS MER
15. Expression and Regulation of P2 Receptors in Human Circulation
Sammanfattning : P2 receptors mediate the actions of the extracellular nucleotides ATP, ADP, UTP and UDP regulating several physiological responses including cardiac function, vascular tone, smooth muscle cell (SMC) proliferation, platelet aggregation, and the release of endothelial factors. The aim of the present study was to investigate the mRNA and protein expression of P2 receptors in human SMCs, endothelial cells (ECs), erythrocytes and platelets, the regulation of P2 receptors under shear stress in human vessels, the changes of platelet P2 receptors in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and the regulation of plasma ATP levels by P2 receptor on erythrocytes.
