  3. 13. Novel actions of thrombin-derived host defense peptides

    Författare :Finja Hansen; Lund Dermatologi och venereologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Host defense peptides; Thrombin; Monocytes Macrophages; Gram-negative bacteria; LPS; TLR; Phagocytosis; Inflammation; Endocytosis;

    Sammanfattning : Thrombin-derived C-terminal peptides (TCPs) constitute a novel class of immunomodulatory host defense peptides, generated during infection and inflammation. Previous investigations have shown that TCPs of 2-3 kDa inhibit pro-inflammatory immune responses in vitro and in vivo, but their mode of action remained unclear. LÄS MER

  4. 14. HOST DEFENSE PEPTIDES OF THE COAGULATION SYSTEM AND THEIR THERAPEUTIC POTENTIAL

    Författare :Gopinath Kasetty; Lund Dermatologi och venereologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Host defense peptides; Sepsis; Serine proteases; Factor X; Immunomodulation;

    Sammanfattning : Prevention and control of infectious diseases is seriously hampered by an increasing prevalence of bacteria that are resistant towards conventional antibiotics. Resistant bacteria are often the root cause of infections that trigger the complex clinical syndrome called sepsis, which is a concern for high morbidity and mortality. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Malignant melanoma-Risk factors and the CDKN2A mutation in relation to phenotypes and other cancers

    Författare :Kari Nielsen; Lund Dermatologi och venereologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; clinically atypical nevus; nevus; CDKN2A; melanoma; risk factors; sunbed; UVR;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Cutaneous malignant melanoma (CMM) is an increasingly common cancer in fair-skinned people. The purpose of this thesis was to study high-risk patients with multiple tumours including a CMM, high-risk families with the unique Swedish germline mutation in CDKN2A(113insArg), as well as study risk factors for CMM in women.
