1. Wear behavior of Ti1-xAlxN-based coatings during turning
Sammanfattning : Ti1-xAlxN coatings are extensively used on cutting tools used for metal cutting. In this thesis, the wear behavior of TiN, TiAlN with different Al-content, and TiAlWN and TiAlMoN coatings is investigated after turning, using electron microscopy and X-ray absorption spectroscopy techniques. 2. Removal of natural organic matter by enhanced coagulation in Nicaragua
Sammanfattning : The existence of trihalomethanes (THMs) in a drinking water plant of Nicaragua has been investigated in order to see whether the concentration exceeded the maximum contaminant level recommended by the environmental protection agency of the United States (USEPA) and the Nicaragua guidelines. The influence of pH, temperature, chlorine dose and contact time on the formation of THMs were studied. LÄS MER
3. Removal of Natural Organic Matter to reduce the presence of Trihalomethanes in drinking water
Sammanfattning : In countries located in tropical zones, a critical task in drinking water plants is the removal of the natural organic matter (NOM), particularly during the rainy season when a lot of organic matter is transported by run-off into the water bodies. It provokes overloaded in the plants and they have often needed to be shut down. LÄS MER
4. Anaerobic treatment of wastewater in a UASB reactor
Sammanfattning : The anaerobic treatment of waste water has been studied with an emphasis on the Up- flow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) reactor. A model to describe the processes occurring in a UASB reactor was developed and an experimental study of the anaerobic wastewater treatment systems in Nicaragua was also performed. LÄS MER
5. Upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactor : modelling
Sammanfattning : Anaerobic treatment is widely used around the world as a biological stage in both domestic and industrial wastewater-treatment plants. The two principal advantages of anaerobic over aerobic treatment are the production of biogas, which can be used as fuel, and the lower rate of biomass production, which results in lower maintenance costs for the plant.
